The dishes come out dirtier after they're "washed"! The soap leaves a filmy residue and I have to re-wash all the dishes. I've tried liquid Cascade, the Finish tablets, and putting Jet Dry rinse aid in the allotted spot. Help!

Take out the botton dish rack and check the drain. Most likely there is a screen that is supposed to catch big debris and keep it from entering the drain. It's probably got a lot of gunck in it. Take the screen out and clean it and check under the screen too!

If you go to www.dishwasherfilter.com you can solve this problem right now. it makes a filter that removes the hard minerals in your water that cause your spots. you also will not need jet dry anymore and your dishes will look amazing. it is affordable(like 70 bucks ) and has a money back guarantee but trust me you will not be returning this product.

I have very hard water and had the Worst looking dishes until i tried LemiShine. It is next to the dishwashing soap in the market. Also, you could try switching from a liquid soap to the Electrasol hard tablets. I don't know what the difference is, but the liquid soap does a number on my dishes. The two together, LemiShine and electrasol will solve your problem! I promise!

My Samsung model #WA4H7000AW/A2 seems to always need an additional rinse to get rid of soap left behind. Is this a common complaint ?

Here are some questions that may help.
1) Is the water hot enough? Since the soap "melts" better at higher temperatures, cooler water can leave a soap film.
2) Are the dishes clean before you run the machine? We like to used the dishwasher to "sanitize" the dishes, so we rinse them really good before washing them, to get off caked food residue.
3) Try changing washer soap, try powder if you used liquid, or visa-versa, and try less quantity and see if any of those help.
God bless your efforts.

White residue on dishes

This has become a huge problem and a big misunderstanding on what the white dried residue is on your dishes.....IS it hard water probably not . Due you use liquid or powder soap and fill both soap compartments !!!!ow

well here is a solution first stop using to much soap!!!
most people only need no more than a tablespoon of soap.... powder or liquid..total... dont forget that powder soap can go bad in those card board boxes in a humid enviorment,,,( under the sink) remove and discard any soap that's clumpy and pour rest in a tupperware dish...

so here is how to remove white residue off dishes...

Fill your kitchen sink with hot water no soap and 1 cup of vinegar let dishes soak dont let water cool scour dishes in sink no soap rinse them and air dry all dishes .... some dishes may be ruined due to how long white residue had been on them called etching..... now we need to clean the dishwasher start dishwashere like normal no soap and let run for few seconds when dishwasher starts to fill open door and pour in atleast 2 cups of vinegar close door and let dishwasher run cycle repeat necessary till residue is of wash arms racks door and cabinet walls ... these steps need to be repeated in most cases a few times ...

My GE washer is leaving a brown oily residue inside the drum after washes.

I amj thinking that you use soap powder in your washing machine. If that is the case what you are expericing is the accumulated powder residue under the agitator breaking away and marking the clothes. Re move the agitator and clead all the gunk out of the machine including a water recycling(saver ) hoses. Washing powder is 90% clay that is used to carry the active ingredaient and is never completely flushed in the rinse cycle. Ity also cause a deteriation of the hoses and pumpseal. When you have cleaned out the machine I recommend you only use liquid detergents as they are more effective and don't leave the residue.

When I wash the dishes whether it is liquid or powder cascade soap the dishes come out woth a white filmy substance. What causes that?

Hi

White film deposits are observed if water is hard or when you are using more detergent than needed, try filling detergent cup half way. Try using white vinegar after the wash cycle is complete, run a complete cycle. Also turn down the heat on the hot water fed to the dishwasher. Try using water softener for better results.
You can also add vinegar in the final rinse cycle. Make sure that your soap dispenser drawer is opening and closing fine.

Hope this helps... Please post back if more information is required.

My GE profile dishwasher is leaving soap residue on the dishes after a wash cycle. Cloudy and a sort of fim on the dishes. Seems to be getting worse. I use the same dish detergent-Cascade and regulary use...

The problem is most likely that there is still water residue at the bottom of your machine. If the machine is not fully drained it picks up some of the residue and sprays that onto the dishes during the final rinse, leaving an unhealthy and unsightly film on everything.
Remove the bottom strainers and make sure that there is nothing obstructing the outlet pipe and the pump. If possible back flush through the outlet pipe and try draining the machine again before using it again.

Dishwasher leaves baked on soap scum on al dishes and everything ....even on the dishwasher ...tried all kinds of soap and rinse aid...nothing works...cleaned entire washer out cleaned all filters...

I imagine you've already checked that you're using the correct amount of detergent for the wash programme, and that you're washing the correct quantity of dishes for the wash programme, though if not, try that first!

Is the dishwasher heating the water to the correct temperature? If it's not rinsing at a hot enough temperature, the detergent may leave a residue. In that case, your dishes would probably also be less than entirely clean; they could be slightly greasy when removed from the machine.

Another possibility is that insufficient water is supplied to the dishwasher, so it might be worth checking the tap that lets water through the hose and into the machine. Does the tap turn on fully? Does it turn off properly?

The other thing that might be worth trying is an empty wash: put the machine through a wash programme WITH detergent but WITHOUT dishes, at the programme with the highest temperature. Is all the soap scum washed away? Or is there still a residue inside the machine? If the empty wash works, you probably need to give your machine a maintenance wash once a month or so. This is often the case if you usually wash your dishes a few at a time on a short programme.

I hope some of that helps. Good luck!

Extra suds due to liquid soap in the machine overflowing. How do I drain it?

This is strange. Are you using an electric dishwasher liquid soap, OR are you using a dish soap that you manually use to wash dishes?
REGULAR dish soap liquid that is not specifically made for dishwashers creates a foamy suds with lots of bubbles that will in fact bubble out of your dishwasher. on the other hand. Electric Dishwasher detergent will NOT create foamy suds with lots of bubbles.
Switch your soap. The next cycle any residue suds or soap will be gone as long as you use the proper liquid detergent. I would also recommend using a rinse agent which further helps break down and rinse off residue.

Chalky residue left on dishes

hi,
The chalky residue would have formed due to the washing liquid or powder used. According to my experience, I am happy with "Amway -Dishwasher liquid".Please try it for washing your dishes. It leaves no residues and even cleans your dishwasher. On continuous usage, you may find the difference. Overall, it cleans your dishes as well as washer simultaneously. Though its a bit expensive, it is worth buying it.
please search in "ebay" for your country to get the product. Please rate my solution as helpful. Regards, Venu.

Dishwasher still turns on but stopped cleaning dishes.

Hey, Matt

If the "soap" left on the dishes is a filmy residue, especially on the glasses, you probably have a failed heating element. The heating element is not only used for drying cycle, but also during the wash cycle to "activate" the detergent.

If the residue is not a film-type stuff, suspect a blockage in the sump/impeller/wash pump area. Check also for blocked holes in the wash arms.

Good Luck! Please report back what you find, OK?

My washing machine is leaving little residue on all my clothes after a complete wash, What are they? and how do you get rid of it, the washing machine is not yet a year old

Describe the residue. If it's oily (black, dk green) then the seal is out of the tranny and oil is getting into the tub. Dry cleaning is best for oil based stains. Liquid dish detergent is good also. On white it is tough to remove. Your washer will need a new transmission or replacing.

If it is powdery I'd guess a soap buildup, especially if you've recently changed detergents. The new detergent is breaking up the old soap scum in the outer drum and it is redepositing onto your clothes. This should wash out/off.
Tip: If it's a soap residue, fill washer full without clothes with hot water. Add 1 gallon white vinegar and more hot water until the unit if as full as possible. Agitate 15 minutes and drain. Rinse with a full level and drain.
