Question about Canon EOS-10D Digital Camera

Canon 10d won't turn on

My 10d went dead last weekend while i was using it. It gave no indication of a low battery. But i figured that was the problem. I recharged the battery to its fullest. And my camera still won't turn on. it hasn't been mishandled or anything like that. I'm thinking the coin size battery on the bottom of the camera might have to be replaced. Any ideas?

Re: Canon 10d won't turn on

Well got a little advice from a friend and here is what he suggested the lens might not be on all the way so try taking it off and putting it back on as stupid as this sounds it actually worked when i did it on mine also even though you've probably done it already clean the battery's contacts and the ones in the camera and hopefully that's all the bigger the problem is. good luck

I have a canon 10D that is getting an "error 99".

You could've used a non-compatible lens or the contacts are dirty. Turn the camera off then use a clean micro fiber cloth or pencil eraser to clean the contacts.

My Canon 10D will not Power On. Do I need the original battery ? Currently I have A battery from my Canon 30D in the 10D.

According to Canon, the battery should work in either camera. Does the battery work in the other camera but not in the 10D?

I have a 10d digital camera. battery gos dead after shooting 15+

Try cleaning your battery terminals. You can use a little rubbing alcohol on a q-tip. If you are still having issues then you will need to get another battery as that battery is shot

FUji FinePix s1000fd, camera will not power on with new batteries, when it powers on it goes off in a few seconds or minutes indicating battery low, i have used fully charged batteries, ordinary batteries...

I have same problem as edmoze mentions above - batteries went dead. I first tried to use regular Duracell AA and it would still not come on. Went to internet & it recommended getting the Duracell rechargeable NiMh which I did. Got the charger & last nite they charged overnight. Today the camera did come on & I was able to download what I had taken. But what concerns me is that the low battery light is still flashing after a night of charging. What's up? Should I expect this kind of battery problem to continue? Seriously considering getting a Nikon Coolpix.

No power

I have the same problem too. I turned it off and it will not turn on again. Bummer too I was taking it camping this weekend and went to check it to make sure the batteries were good and it is dead. The web site said to clean the battery contacts but mine are clean.

Well replace it by all means - what does the Manual have to say about this particular battery It is usual for a full manual to be on a PDF file on the software disk - have you checked this out? If all else fails- Canon Technical Support is the next stop

My battery works for weeks. It might be a problem with the camera. Could it be the contact points in the camera?

*istD battery problem

Battery charge indicators don't measure actual charge but voltage because there is no cost-efficient method to measure battey charge directly. Instead, batteries are designed so that voltage goes down with charge. Now, the difficult thing is that not all batteries behave in the same manner. It is actually very hard to predict how a battery menufactured by xyz behaves. I would guess that Pentax engineers did not have Energizer AA's in their mind when they defined the voltage alert level. I would suspect that the battery status indicator is calibrated for the CR-V3 batteries that were included with the camera body, or something else. Only wild guesses above... And yes, I have encountered weird inidicator behavior with AA batteries, too. But not with CR-V3. I bet your mobile phone battery indicator plays tricks, too.
