Question about Tecumseh Horizontal Tiller Engine 8 Hp, 1" X 2 57/64" Shaft, Modelno. Hm80 - 155656x
Replaced the carb ( with new one )but now not sure how to hook the rods back up. cannot get the trottle to work right. would like to see picture of rod and springs to see what i did wrong

Not the solid state ignition. If this were the problem the engine wouldn't start at all. There is some adjustment needed to the carb but without more info, I'm not sure what.

LOOK CLOSE ON THE CARB THERE SHOULD BE A NAME OR SOME LETTERS OF WHO MAKES THE CARB GO ONLINE TO TECUMSEH AND YOU CAN GET A CARB BREAKDOWN DON'T GO TO SEARS TO MUCH RUN AROUND

These symptoms indicate a rich mixture. Assuming the carb is the original (and therefore correct) one, and that it has an adjustable main jet, turn in the main jet adjustment screw on the bottom of the float bowl until the engine runs smooth.
If there is no adjustment on the float bowl, the carb will have to be removed and properly cleaned (ultrasonic cleaner recommended).
