Whirlpool GU3200 dishwasher

I am trying to remove the lower spray arm, the plastic piece in the centre turn but will not come out, help!!!!!!!!!!

  • popsiclestk Apr 07, 2008

Ditto. A popsicle stick was retrieved from the food grinder -- the end of it was sticking up under the lower spray arm. We removed the stick and the machine is now much quieter, but it is v-e-r-y loud. I want to take off the lower spray arm to see if another stick is lower in the grinder but the arm will not come off. The top plastic knob above the lower spray arm does not move.

The illusive technical repair sheet that isn't there...

Turn the thing a little further and pull UP. It'll come out. You've got to put some muscle into it!

The manual for the GU1000/1200/1500 is here (it's almost the same and as close as I can get you to a 3200)

I just removed mine and the small knob stays attached to the machine and the arm slips over it.

I suggest you take a look at the technician repair sheet that should be stored inside the front panel at the bottom of the door. Remove that panel under the door with screw driver. Inside, attached to the panel, you should find a troubleshooting guide and solution for technician. But it is easy to follow.
It'l tell you how to remove things.

Good Luck

Kenmore ultra wash III portable dishwasher. Model #1765991. Lower wash arm came off. How do I re-attach?

Hello. The lower spray arm screws down onto the center, round, plastic part (spinner) that has threads on the center portion. It's very loose and spins easily because it uses the water spray to drive it. At the top of the threads, there will be a flat piece of plastic. Set the spray arm down onto the threads. Hold the flat plastic area that sticks out above the arm with pliers. Spin the spray arm counter-clockwise while holding the spinner. It will thread itself down about a turn or so. Snug firmly--DON'T OVER-TIGHTEN the spray arm onto the spinner. Remember, it only uses water pressure to spin so it doesn't have to be "gorilla tight"! I hope this helps you!

PDW7800 lower spray arm making clunking sound

1. The spray arm has an aluminum piece on the bottom side of the spray arm. It kinda separates away from the plastic arm and as the spray arm turns, it hits the inner door liner. You can see the scrape marks it makes on the door liner. You can bend the aluminum edge upwards with needle nose pliers or try to make it tight to the plastic spray arm by pushing on he tabs.
2. If you have removed the spray arm make sure the thin silver washer is still inside the hole were the spray arm inserts use a flashlight and look inside that section. If missing, it can also make a noise.

Neither of the arms are spinning water

Your spray arm jets are probably clogged.
Depending on the model, the lower spray arm generally has a nut or thumb/butterfly screw (plastic) that you remove and then lift the spray arm off. I always soak mine in hot soapy water and then flush with hot water. If debris such as pieces of paper, bone, peelings are in there, you'll need to take a tweezer or toothpick to remove them from the jets. The upper spray arm usually has the same apparatus and you can follow the same procedure.
The upper spray arm receives water pressure from a tube that runs up the back of the machine on the inside. If the connection has been knocked out of line, the water can't flow through the tube to the spray arm. My kids used to knock ours loose when they loaded the lower shelf. Pull out the top shelf and see if the plastic connectors are in place. If not, snap them back on the shelf supports and this should align the tubes.

I hope these suggestions help your problem. If so please come back to Fixya and rate my advice!

I removed the lower spray arm on my kitchenaid dishwasher and cant get it to screw back in. Is there a trick to doing it? The arm was the only part I removed

My lower spray is connected by a large plastic screw type piece. Do you have that part? The arm itself just sits loosely on the base and the "screw" is needed to secure it. The arm itself does not screw on. If you lost that part, I don't know how you would secure the arm.

Lower spray arm partially blocked with vegetable (lettuce Leaf ) matter. How do I release this arm for cleaning?

Hi,

If it's a Bosch as listed above, the lower spray arm simply pulls off. Grip the spray arm near the centre, give it a sharp tug. To refit, insert the shaft into the hole, push down on the centre and make sure it clicks home.

belectric_179.jpg
To clean inside the spray arm, you can also separate the arm from the shaft to give better access. There are 4 plastic clips, holding the arm to the shaft (I've ringed one in the image below). Insert a blunt table knife or flat bladed screwdriver behind each clip and gently lever it off. It's easiest to get one side partly off first , then do the other side. Be careful with these - on older washers the plastic can be quite brittle and the clips break more easily.

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance - or you don't have a Bosch dishwasher - please let me know.

Regards,
BElectric.

Hi, In the center of the spray arm is a threaded piece of plastic/bolt.
Use pliers and turn that tab on the bolt. If it doesn't turn easy. Holt the bolt and try to turn the spray arm with you hand.
It will release the spray arm so you can remove it.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

in the dishwasher you will see you lower spray arm. take it off. now going up the back is the supply tube. you need to pop it off of thed top then the back and turn it clockwise to get it off the motor. after you do that you will see 4 torx screws. take all 4 out and you will be able to remove the fine filter. thats the normally grey piece with all the slots. after you remove the filter you will see two more torx screws. remove them they are for 2 seperate pieces one is the foreigh food seperator and the other is the chopper cover. remove both of them and clean the whole thing out. as yiou are puytting it back together. let me know if you get stuck

Small plastic top and mid spray arm do not turn, bottom does

decrete, you want to get down to the chopper and screen. If the screen is plugged up with gunk there won't be enough pressure to reach the top spray arms. Check out the posted pics. Remove the lower spray arm. Rotate the rear feed arm to the right until it unsnaps from the tube going up the back. See the 4 torq screws holding the filter on. Remove them. Lift the filter up. Now you will see the chopper inlet cover. 1 torq screw holding it in. Lift it up and there's the chopper and screen. Catriver..post back
