Frigidaire PLMV168K2 micro wave stopped heating food. Still has turntable and light functions. Seems to have more of a power load after initial start. The buzz is more intense than normal.

A loud buzz is a symptom of a shorted magnetron or high voltage diode. Would recommend that you take it to a qualified repair facility if you want it repaired, but if the magnetron has failed, the part costs can equal that of a new oven.

My microwave starts however food does not heat up.

Micro wave as the name suggests produces heat when the micro waves aimed at an object causes the water molecules inside the object to vibrate hence producing heat. The gadget responsible is the magnetron. If your magnetron is not receiving ht voltage or receiving but faulty, then your micro wave wont work please take precaution when opening micro wave due to high voltage caps that remain charged sometimes even when it is off.check the high voltage fuse/ diode and capacitor if they are fine and the step up trans former o.k then the only option is to replace the magnetron

I have a built in Whirlpool Micro Wave oven that quit

if you open the cupboard door above the microwave you should see two or four screws/bolts holding the microwave up there. there should also be an electrical outlet up there where the microwave is plugged in. have at least two strong people. put some blankets on your stove top to protect it. unplug and remove the screws. it should be connected in back by a metal plate also. when the microwave is tilted down at a fourty five degree angle, you can give a little lift and it should pop off the plate in back. it is heavy. get a new one at sears or other appliance retail outlets. i dont recommend best buy. they really screwed me over so i dont send business their way.

GE micro wave Spacemaker

The turntable is either plastic gear driven or uses a belt. either way, it's usually all non metallic due to the microwaves. you'll need to see if the motor that drives these are turning by removing the case. this can be EXTREMELY dangerous as the radiation from the cylstron tube. if it's a simple as a belt, the part can be replaced. good place to go is www.repairclinic.com

27 day old MH1160XSQ micro-wave- turn table will not turn.

Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free. Whirlpool customer service is here.

For owners whose oven is out of warranty, read on:

The turntable system consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours is not set to be off via the control panel (and your model does not have this feature) but it won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.
