a D4D diesel engine in a TOYOTA HILUX
well all filters good (air and fuel)
all diesel fuel lines purged of air and at spec pressure
good fuel pumps.
glow plugs not dead,(all)
get the service manual and it covers injector changes steps.
fuse good? to pumps. (lift pumps etc) many pumps can not pump air so must be primed.

Car: Fortuner 3.0 D4D 4X4 2010 ... It would also be great to have the knowledge if you need to replace it in the bundu. ... Unplug the top connector on the fuel filter ... Toyotacharged me over R400 labour to do a 5 min job! .... doesnt create an air lock or vacuum of some sort- its free but you have to ask for it.

White smoke on diesel engines, means water in combustion chamber. Blue smoke means oil. In what condition was the filter you removed? How bad? Temperature issues? Missing coolant maybe? If yes, you might as well have an internal leak. Some gasket maybe. Check all you vital fluids levels. If anything missing, take the time to empty the engine oil on a can, and check the colour. If it will look like chocolate brown, then you do have a leak from the inside.
