Yes its possible but first you have to install Winxp Sp2 then through Winxp you can install Windows 2003Server/SBS as a additional system by choosing new installation, You can run one OS at a time. if you wanna to use same time you have to use virtual fusion software

Hi digggger,
Could please explain in more detail what you are attempting to do? Is it that you want to have a dual boot system? Meaning you wish to use the same hardware and be able to boot into the system of your choice at startup?

    Hi diggger,

Yes, It is possible for you to accomplish this. For me to further assist you I will need some additional information.

What is your hardware configuration on the system you wish to do this with? What version of Windows Server is presently installed now. What is your hard configuration, meaning how many drives exist, what are there capacities, and how are they partitioned?

The best way to accomplish dual boot is with each OS residing on it's own partition. It is also important to consider any common data which you might want to be able to access from either OS. The best way to accomplish that would be to also have your data residing on a separate partition from that of the operating systems.

So this is not a simple task. It is important to carefully plan all aspects prior to performing the actual dual boot config.

Afetr you provide me with the above info, I should be able to provide with materials that would guide you there the process.

SOURCE: Poweredge 1800 server

I looked over the spesifications for the poweredge 1800 servers, go ahead, it will work perfectly but there is one problem in the windows XP setup, you will need to insert / load SCSI or SATA drivers for the hard drive With a floppy disk, or if you don't have a floppy drive your going to need to create a custom windows xp setup cd and add the drivers into it so it can start the SCSI or SATA hard drive and finish the install. without the drivers it might not find the hard drive.

Aside from that I don't see any other problems. You should be able to get the drivers, and everything ese from dell site

Actually I looked over the dell downloads, I see only windows 2000 on the list with windows server 2003, and 2008 and linux distributions.

This could be a 2nd problem, drivers might not be avaialble, or work with xp, but we might be able to get it to work.

So two problems, SCSI or SATA drivers in windows xp / windows 2000 setup

2nd problem is in windows xp drivers, you could try windows 2003's drivers and 2000's and see if they work, if not, then we would have to look for drivers ourselfs from the internet.

So xp might cause headache but we might get it working, windows 2000 seems to be supported perfectly.

Let me know how the project goes

Windows xp installation

if you have the space on a separate disk drive, I wo recommend installing Windows XP on a seperate drive than the server os and create a dull boot server. You would install the XP os as normal. When ask where to install, choose the spare drive other than where the server os is installed. This should allow Oracle to run as you need it.

Good luck

I have window 7 64bit and the keyspan software installed fine but the server utility does not recognize the print server. I allowed port 3842 tcp and udp through the windows firewall but still no luck.

for key span server to work with windows 7 install windows xp mode to windows 7 ( this can be downloaded from microsoft website if you have windows 7 pro and above. if you have windows 7 home then install windows virtual pc, start it up and insert a windows xp pro install disk. for info on this google 'workaround to install windows xp mode in windows 7 home premium and home basic') Once you have windows xp mode running, install the keyspan server utility int he virtual machine and setup as usuall. then share the printer. go to windows 7 devices and printers and add a printer, chose a network printer, select the new virtual machine and select the shared printer. In order for the printer to work just start up the keyspan program from windows 7 and print....your welcome.

My window xp2 is not installing window installer 3.1 help me

Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable supports Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 or later, Windows XP, Windows XP Service Pack 1, Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Server 2003. Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 contains Windows Installer 3.1 and therefore can't be installed or upgraded by this redistributable.

Read the above, Windows Installer 3.1 already in in SP2. Why do you need to install it?

Want to install printer

If you are running Windows XP or Windows Vista, you may simply plug in the printer to the computer, and the computer will install the generic driver.

By default, Windows XP and Vista already has the generic driver installed.

However, if the printer is not a Plug-n-Play device, you will need to load the CD that came with the printer, and follow the installation wizard.

Thank you and good luck!

try another windows xp disk or burn another copy of the disk you have. it's also possible that there's a problem with the optical drive that you're using.
