It's impossible to tell. from your description.

Usually a new washer is set up with new hoses. If the installers aren't complete idiots that should be good.

You can look at where the water lines come out of your wall and make sure it isn't wet there.

You could also test the water pressure at your house and make sure it isn't extremely high. Sometimes these new units can't take overly high water pressure.

Good Luck!

Due to the fact that you have had two different machines with the same problem seems to rule out a problem with the machine itself. Inspect the drain system that the machine discharges into. I have seen washers that have pumps which can overwhelm the house drain--the cure was to increase the machine's drain spout outer diameter with duct tape until it was a tight fit into the house drain. This prevented water overflowing from that point. The better cure would be to increase the drain pipe size, but that can get pretty expensive. Hope this helps!

Water is leaking from the bottom of the machine and will not fill up

Hello,

Your water leak can come from 3 areas:

1) drain hose on back of washer is coming off / splitting / getting loose

2) water pump is leaking (cracked?) or has a gasket that has deteriorated.

3) hose between tub and water pump has come off / split / became loose.

Since your washer isn't able to hold water, it makes it easy to remove the clothes, and lean the washer forward to see what is going on. Most washers' mechanicals can be acessed from either the bottom, or from the back via access panel. The water leaks are generally a pretty easy repair.

I had the same problem. I have tried replacing the spring clamp on the drain hose with a regular adjustable hose clamp I got from the hardware store. Not real happy with this situation since I just bought this washer two years ago to replace a previous Kenmore washer that we had for nearly 20 problem-free years.
