Have had this happen, If running XP, Windows Server or Windows Pro and most of the time can just unplug mouse or keyboard and it will recognize it and work.

Sometimes, computers have issues recovering from hibernation. My best suggestion for you is that if you have issues, inhibit it from going there in the first place. With the programs updating themselves automatically these days and security scans, it is best just to leave them on all the time. You do need to make sure that the heat sink on the processor stays clean though. If you take a side panel off while it is turned off, you will see any dust that needs to be cleaned. The processor will be under the large metal hunk with the fan on top. Make sure that is clean as well as the fan blades. Checking about every 6 months should ensure proper functioning and longevity. To disable hibernation, right click on an empty spot on the desktop=> properties=> screen saver=> power. Choose your settings in there as far as how long to wait before turning off monitors. Again I suggest to choose never when asked when to turn off hard disks and standby. Let me know if you need anything else.

This is a wireless keyboard and mouse, right? Make sure that the battery of the mouse is fully charged. Connect the wireless dongle of the mouse into different USB ports of the computer.

I would say it is in the Hibernation Mode To get it out of this mode you need to go to your Control Panel, open "POWER OPTION'S" and deselect the Hibernation mode then reboot.

I am running a model 1045 on VISTA. The sleep key puts my computer to sleep but what key wakes it up?

Hi there,

Normally when you put your computer to sleep with your keyboard you only have to press a key on the keyboard to wake the computer again.
I normally use my spacebar to wake my pc but any key should work fine.

Kind regards!!!

How do I wake up the monitor when it goes to sleep when not used for a short time.

slapping it around usually works. "just a joke!"

tapping a few keys on your keyboard and moving the mouse will usually wake the monitor from sleep mode.

Not on after pc comes out of sleep mode

Hi,
it's not a hardware-problem - it's a windows feature smile_wink.gif - (and it really is one !) - please try this:
To prevent a USB mouse from waking your PC

1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.

2. In the list of device categories, expand Mice and other pointing devices.

3. Right-click the entry for the USB mouse, and then click Properties.

4. On the Power Management tab, clear the Allow this device to wake the computer check box.

5. Click OK.
Don't forget to do this with your mouse + keyboard !

Cannot get me monitor out of sleep mode, please help?

Hi

Pls check the power management properties in device manager to check if the option to wake the computer from sleep for the keyboard and mouse are enabled.
You may also try to change the power plan or create a new power plan and check if you are able to wake the computer from sleep.
If this problem started a few days back, then you may try to do a system restore.
