Hi I have a Bosch B35L steam generator and the sole plate only heats up when I am using steam, so I can't use it as a normal iron, help.

Yes you most likely can, they are very simply consisting basically of, a switch, a thermal fuse, a thermostat, and an element.. all wired into the Phase wire, the neutral, is simply the return. Take it apart and draw a diagram of how it all goes together and reverse the procedure.

see the instruction from your manual:
Check the owner's manual for your iron to learn the manufacturer's suggestions for cleaning, what water to use, and storage tips.
Soft-water systems add minerals that can harm an electric steam iron and your clothes so don't fill the iron with softened water. Instead, use filtered or distilled water.
2) if the iron does not heat a( test the power cord for open or defective b) and thermostat for adjust c) test the thermal fuse d) test the heating element for open.

SOURCE: Steam generator iron not allowing steam to vent. Water heats in holding tank to 212+ degrees F, and sole plate heats up but no steam comes out. could the line be clogged. It's a Shark G6200
