You have already analyzed the cause of the problem. That makes the fix much easier. Trace the hose that leaked by to your machine. There you will find that the hose is connected to a plastic solenoid valve. (A solenoid valve is merely an electrically powered diaphragm valve that is either open or closed). Disconnect the power to the washing machine. You can remove and disassemble the valve, getting down to the diaphragm and clean it, but for the time and cost, it will be probably easier and more effecient to replace the solenoid, and repair the other at your leisure. Any appliance parts supply house should be able to provide the part you need, at a low price.

If not, then remove the hose from the faucet and inspect the screens for dirt accumulation or damage and clean or replace as necessary. If your washer still doestake water then you should next look at the water inlet valve located on the back of the machine.

Drum not filling

Make sure that there is water available by turning the wall faucets all the way on. if the wall faucets are on and the water inlet hoses are clear and the screens are not clogged, this will confirm water inlet valve assembly failure. you will need to replace this device in this case.

You can test the valve assembly for voltage, if the voltage is not sufficient, replace the control and, if the voltage is 120 vac, replace the water valve assembly.

There is air in your lines.
You'll have to bleed out the air.

Turn off your water main.

open the faucet lowest in your house and then go open all the other faucets.

let the water drain completely.

close all the faucets except the lowest one - and turn on your water main.

once no air is escaping from the faucet (no burping or gurgling) close it and move on to the next - highest faucet.

Do this until all faucets are done.

Now - turn off the water feeds to your washer - and disconnect from the machine.

Open each valve one at a time into a sink or bucket until air is purged.

Reconnect hoses, and re-try.

This is called AIR HAMMER and if this still doesn't do the trick - there are tiny accumulators called air hammer arrestors that will eliminate most of the hammering.

Maytag Neptune washer MAH3000AWW seems to backfill after cycle

It could be a leaking water valve. The MAH3000 has two flavors, the earlier model had (2) extra wax motors in the soap dispenser for the bleach and softener controls and the newer ones have the bleach and softener valves integrated into the water valve assembly.

Contact me via the site and let me know which serial number you have and I can detemrine which water valve you will need.

See for a funny new song dedicated to Maytag Neptune owners explaining the door latch wax motor issue.

4E code keeps apearing

When error message 4E is displayed, you should clean the water hose mesh filter. To do this:

1. Turn off the water source to the washing machine.
2. Unscrew the hose from the back of the washing machine.
3. With a pair of pliers, gently pull out the mesh filter from the end of the hose and rinse it under water until clean. Also clean the inside and outside of the threaded connector.
4. Push the filter back into place.
5. Screw the hose back onto the washing machine.
6. Turn on the faucet and make sure the connections are watertight.

Also, please check the following:
• Make sure the source water faucet is turned on.
• Check the water pressure.

Front loader washer

after you finish cycle all water out?? and completely spun clothing??? then upon returning you see water accumulating after the fact??? if so you have a faulty water valve not seating properly after closing , you will need to replace the valve the valve to correct, in mean time turning off the water between loads will work as well(which is a practice you should do anyway)
