Question about Maytag Dryers

1 Answer

My dryer does not heat up properly. I have cleaned the vent. I have changed the high limit thermostat. I see the inginiter light up and flame comes on. After 8 to 16 seconds the flame turns off. After 40 seconds inginiter comes back on and at 52 seconds, flame comes back on. After 8 seconds the flame goes off. I have by pass the high limit thermostat by connecting the purple and red wires together. The flame stays on. That's the reason I changed the high limit thermostat but did not fix problem. Should I change the other thermostat installed on top of the duct from drum. Or should I do something else. Thank you for your insight.

No dryer heat

If the coils are bad the unit will light with flame for 4 - 8 times then all of a sudden the ignitor will glow, kick off with no gas coming threw valve. it sounds like the high limit thermostat is short cycling the flame. This is the thermostat that sits on top of the burner chamber. remove 1 screw from the thermostat and blend it upwards away from the heat. Then plug unit back in and test to see if the flame stays on longer. Click here to see maytag dryer no heat posts. Contact me anytime here. Hope this helps..

I have replaced radiant flame sensor, high limit thermostar, cycling thermostat, coil kit, and blower wheel on maytag dryer ldg9206aae, and still it takes forever to dry and is not hot enough.

if the flame is lighting like it should and you changed out all those parts did you clean out the lint filter duct and clean out the vent line?try removing the vent line from the back of the dryer and run it,if the flame stays on longer and it heats you have a blocked vent line,if the air can't move and that's all a dryer does the clothes can't dry

I have a gas dryer, model MDG7657AWW that will not stay heated. Every time I put it on, the flame comes on for about 21 seconds & then shuts off. I replaced the igniter, hi limit thermostat, cycling t

On a gas dryer the heat normally only comes on for 30 seconds or until the drum temp reaches 160f at which time the flame is shut down by the cycling thermostat. The drum temp then starts to drop. When the drum temp reaches 105f then another blast of heat is issued for 30 more seconds. That is how they work. Put it all back together and trow a load in there.

Kenmore elite model 11062952100 My dryer will not heat I replaced The thermal cutoff and high limit thermostat the dryer produce heat briefly but is not producing heat again.

There is a high limit switch (looks like a button with two wires hooked to it) on the bottom of the vent frame. When the vent fills up with lent at the bottom it gets hot. For safety, this limit switch will turn heat off. Remove the vent frame and clean it out and check the continuity of the switch. Also, make sure both heater elements are working properly.

Heats spins but doesnt dry. its clean and lint free there is no exterior vent on it bosch axxis v20-ul thx

If you have heat, then it's an airflow issue as inside your dryer you have several thermostats, one is called the high limit thermostat, when the dryer can not vent properly, the heat builds up in the dryer and this thermostat cuts off the heating element for safety reasons, and the heat may not come back on for 20 minutes, I understand there is no exterior vent but the dryer does vent air. More then likely once you take the dryer apart and clean the lint out of the inside it will run correctly. Hope this helps Tim

I'm still having the problem with the heat Some times the dryer heats for a minute and sometimes for 3 seconds, i replaced the coils and the hi-limit thermostat .I hear this clicking so i know the ignitor...

The previous problem is addressed by replacing the high-limit thermostat according to your last post. The igniter is definitely working since the gas is being ignited.

Yes there's a flame sensor along with the igniter on the burner cone and it must be not working properly. The cycling thermostat is good as per previous troubleshooting, the high-limit thermostat has been replaced, and the igniter is good. These findings and observations suggest that the flame sensor is not working properly. It is either dislodged from its proper position and cannot sense properly the heat from the flame and the igniter or it is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Check that the flame sensor is aligned properly with the slot on the burner cone. Replace the sensor if it is aligned properly. The sensor looks like this.

Mdg2300bww dryer, flame is large hitting high limit causig it to shut down dryer. Changed solenoids on gas valve and high limit. What else can be the problem? I also cleaned all lint out of dryer vent and...

Hi, A couple of things to look for. Check the 4" vent going to the outside and make sure there is clean. If that is ok, check to see if the blower duct inside the dryer is clean and make sure the blower wheel is turning properly. This model has a problem with the blower wheel coming loose on te motor shaft.
The flame is large because it is not being sucked past the limit switch.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

the flame going out is normal. the heat cycles on and off as called for by the thermostat. If the heat doesn't come back on i would start by changing the gas coils.
