Onkyo Tx NR626 receiver cooling fan does not run. Normal or not? Does chassis to need to reach certain point before it comes on?

most cooling fans in receivers only come on when they are needed. Some turn on at higher volume levels, others will not turn on until the unit gets too hot.

Hi lechap,

With the indulgence of IB4G2008 as per his last post Feb 13.....

If I figure your concerns right, they are:
1. You have an iPod on an Onkyo IPod dock that you want to connect to an Onkyo receiver TX-302;
2. You have an Onkyo receiver TX-302 that you want to power a set of Bose Cinemate speakers;
3. the connectors on some do not fit or are not the same;
4. you want to know what goes to where.

If I may suggest:
a. connect the L/R Audio Out of the Onkyo IPod dock to the L/R Audio IN of VIDEO 1 using a pair of RCA to RCA cable. Connect the S Video Out of the Onkyo IPod dock to the Video IN of VIDEO 1 using an S Video to RCA Video cable. Thereafter if you want to watch a movie or play music from your iPod, you need to choose Video 1 in the Onkyo receiver TX-302. You can of course choose any other VIDEO 1~3;572fcdc.jpg34ab5d3.jpg

b. all other source/devices may be connected similarly using the same scheme on any of the free VIDEO / AUDIO inputs
c. of course the MONITOR OUT goes to your TV or projector.

With respect to the Bose Cinemate, it would not be technically correct to connect the Bose Cinemate speakers straight to the speaker out of the Onkyo receiver TX-302. You need to install another set of speakers to the speaker outs of the Onkyo receiver. The Bose Cinamate system's TV AUDIO could be connected to the TAPE OUT (or the AUDIO L/R OUT of VIDEO 1)

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

How to remove the T2Monitor indicator light to have sound

Look for a button labeled 'tape monitor'. That is what the T2 monitor is. When you press that button, it will toggle on and off.

My Onkyo TX-SR606 won't turn on

The reference to Zone 2 means that your Onkyo receiver is set to be remotely controlled from another location. Normally, this arrangement would be initiated at the time of set up but could be done later. You may have to repeat the initial set up routine to get things back to normal

I have been using dolby 5.1/dts in this machine without any problem till a couple of weeks back but suddenly it does not pick up either mode-all it keeps saying is it is set to dolby pro logic. Any ideas?

Which source(s) do this? Only multichannel digital audio in will light up those modes. Perhaps a setting in your source is the problem or your digital cabling is loose/defective.

I'd go through the digital input setup to make sure the receiver is set the format to Automatic for everything unless you have an overriding reason to set it manually. Page 29.

Can hear volume on tv but cannot see picture...tv flickers like it wants to come on but it does not....screen is dark and continually shows hdmi like it wants to come on. the tv before would turn on after...

Many people who use A/V receivers use them to switch only the audio. ie, hook up all your video sources to the TV, and switch between these sources using the TV remote. Just connect the audio cables from your video gear to the Onkyo. The reason is that video signals are more susceptible to problems in A/V receivers than audio signals. better to connect the video sources directly to the TV.

You may want to ask for more clarification about this.

Onkyo TX-SR604 provides audio thru receiver but no video on Bravia LCD when satellite receiver signal is sent thru any of the Onkyo HDMI connections to tv, however if I connect up my Samsung DVD recorder...

easiest fix is to take all hdmi straight to tv. then come out of tv with optical cable to your receiver. that way what ever your watching will automatically be sent to the receiver thru optical. you even will get dolby dig. also you can have audio from your tv when you dont want to use your surround. keeps receiver on one input also.

Onkyo TX-DS575 - intermittent audio

You have a problem that was inherent with all Onkyo receivers from this period. You need to contact Onkyo because the microprocessor needs to be replaced. Last I checked, its about $80 from onkyo.

This is NOT an isolated incident as darn near every Onkyo receiver model had this problem.

Good luck...

No sound

Is there an indication of protect mode on the front display? Have you checked to see if the tape monitor switch is on? Did you hear a click when you first turn on the receiver followed by a second click?
