Question about HP Compaq Presario CQ60Z Notebook

1 Answer

Sound Card is not detected.

Hi guys,
I have a computer with integrated sound in the motherboard. It recently stoped working, I tried downloading the drivers from intel and installing them, but the computer crashed after doing so, but when I disable the sound card in the hardware manager the computer is fine again. What would you do?

Get the drivers from HP. OEM manufacturers often modify the files to make changes to the configuration, and downloading updated drivers from Intel instead can cause problems...
You don't mention your model number, but if you go here you can enter it and access the files you need. See HP solutions here. or enter your model at the home support page and see solve a problem....
Otherwise you could run a custom scan at windows update and see what they offer you for your system....
See articles here and here.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

My system cannot detect the integrated sound card of my P21G motherboard

Try re-installing the audio driver. Here it is:
http://download.ecsusa.com/dlfilepcc/sound/RealTek_v16.zip

If this is a problem from doing a clean OS re-install the don't forget to install the chipset driver first. You can get it here:

Also, Check to make sure the Bios has the integrated sound set to "ENABLED".

If you still can't get it to work. You might want to just pick up a dedicated PCI sound card for next to nothing on eBay.

I have a philips mms321 speakers. they are working fine on my laptop but not working on my PC. I think i need to install some drivers on my PC. Can u guide me which driver to install??

Go to the website http://www.ma-config.com/
there go to the "detect your configuration" option, follow the automatic detection step.
it will detect all the devices attached with the computer and from there you can install the sound drivers.
If you know the model number and the make of the computer...go to there website and you can download the drivers from the website as well

My dell 3100 desktops sound card is not working. it is integrated. i have ran a diagnostic and it states ther is no sound card installed, it used to work.

Hi! If diagnostic stated that there is no sound detected on it then the motherboard should be replace, because it's integrated .If the system is still in warranty call Dell. If not you can buy a PCI sound card and insert it to your motherboard pci slot. That should do the job. Hope that will help you . GOD Bless

I have no sound on my computer.... i have a creative s8220 sound card.... i downloaded the sblive universal driver and it said no sound card detected.... in my sounds profiles it says no playback devices...

Firstly, try the card in another PCI slot, it may be that the slot is defective
Then if no luck, try another sound card in the slot, if that is recognised, then the problem is with the creative sound card.

Installed windows xp with no sound drivers

hi,
need to know if its integrated sound or sound card. if its a sound card, where you plug your output in will be on a card which plugs into the motherboard. look on that card for a name brand and start searching online for the driver at google. might have luck googling the type of computer and model and soforth. if the sound is integrated into the motherboard( no card) look on the motherboard closely where the outputs go to the outputs to your speakers. the most common is SIS. (silicon integrated systems), they have a website. this info may be listed in your system properties in the control panel start/control panel/system/hardware/device manager. study in here for yellow exclamations. try and update drivers there first. you may have to uninstall then reinstall. if it doesent work then write down and google the yellow exclamation info find the drivers and download and once you have these files downloaded you have to point windows to the file you just downloaded. this procedure can get precocious and takes time If the volume knob shows up in your system tray you got it. good luck!

Hi. there is no sound on my pc after formatting. it says that there is no sound device or sound card. my sound card is integrated in motherboard. i think i need to install sound card drivers but i don't...

heres the chaintech website http://www.motherboard.cz/chaintech.htm you will need to identify your motherboard model - should be written on the actual board and then download the soundcard drivers - you should also download the motherboard chipset drivers, they will have an impact on the performance
you may be able to get the motherboard model by running www.belarc.com

My motherboard is mercury with an inbuilt soundcard. the soundcard is not working

Do you know for sure your speakers are working? Or is Windows saying there's no sound device? Does the Device Manager tree show any problems (! symbol) by sound hardware entries? Has the integrated sound been disabled in the BIOS settings?

Try downloading the sound drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's website and reinstall. This often solves the problem.

If the integrated sound has failed, install a PCI sound card if there is an open slot on the board. Or you can also purchase a USB external sound card and plug it into an open USB port, and you don't even need to open the computer. Just be sure to disable the integrated sound in the motherboard BIOS setup.

Thanks for using Fixya! Hope your computer is talking again soon.

this computer has an integrated sound card, which means it is integrated in the Motherboard.
If you have a driver cd that came with the computer, reinstall the audio dive drivers.
If you don;t have the CD,

Go here and download the driver.

I have mercury mohter board but i lost my mother driver so sound is not install can u give me saggesation

The motherboard software does not normally include sound drivers unless the hardware is integrated (which means it's all part of the motherboard). Your question refers to Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Sound Card. This is not an integrated sound system. It is a separate PCI device that has its own software.

Go here: http://support.creative.com/products/product_list.aspx?catid=1&catname=sound+blaster#

Find the EXACT model and you should be able to download the software. DOWNLOAD IT TO THE DESKTOP so you know where it is. Then run the program and it should automatically detect the sound card after you restart the computer.
