I've used this prodect for abuot 1 week, and today in the middle of adding numbers, it stopped working, and has an E on the left side. I can no longer type in anything.

Hi stephanie.
Try unplugging it, then plugging back in. That should reset it.
Sometimes these machines seem to think we're trying to do what they are not capable of so they go into information overload.
If you got a manual with the unit there may be a full explanation.
Usually E just means "error" and the machine cannot do what it thinks you have requested.

What is sireyal number

The serial number on an item is a unique number for that product, sometimes indicating where and when it was manufactured. It is sometimes used to get warranty service on an item.

As an example, my ancient TI Business Analyst I calculator has a serial number printed on the back of the calculator.

Good luck,

What is the square root of 30?

We are asking what number, times itself, is equal to 30. Five times itself is 25. Six times itself is 36. The answer is somewhere between 5 and 6. Let's split the difference and try 5.5. 5.5 times 5.5 is 30.25. This is above 30, so let's try a smaller number, 5.4. 5.4 times 5.4 is 29.16. This is lower than 30, so we need a higher number. How about 5.45? I get 29.7025. We need a number a little higher. How about 5.47? I get 29.9209. Still need a little higher. How about 5.48? 30.0304. So it is somewhere between 5.47 and 5.48.

On a calculator, you can use the square root function. Sometimes you have to enter the number before you hit the square root function and sometimes you need to enter the number after hitting the square root function. Another way of doing it is to use the exponent function, usually with a y to the x key or a ^ key. Enter 30, hit the exponent key, and then enter 1 divided by 2 in brackets.

I get approximately 5.477225575051661134569697828008.

Good luck.

The paper feeder works when used, but doesn't work when calculating. Any suggestions?

Hi, this could be caused by rubber that has become clogged with paper fibers or has gotten hard.
If you open the machine and look for the drive mechanism you will likely recognize the part responsible for advancing the paper.
Alcohol can complicate things sometimes as it can dry out the surface that you want to have slightly tacky. I would try lighter fluid (naptha) and a lint-free cloth or paper towel to scrub the surface of the roller to remove built-up fibers and it may also remove some dead rubber that will show up as a black deposit on the cloth.
Parts for these trusty companions has become increasingly scarce since they are passing out of use with time and the advent of disposable printers. Most of those folks using these machines are reluctant to replace them but that may be your only recourse.

Take care

The calculator has an automatic power down (APD, a trademark of TI) feature that makes it turn itself off to save battery life. If you press the ON button, the last displayed screen is restored.

Cant get the % key turned off.

HI..if this is a printing calculator and the print mode is turned...if there is a problem with the printer and E for Error will appear. The ribbon or some paper could be jammed in the printer..a key could be stuck down..check your entire keyboard key for sticking.
The calculator wont hurt itself and that is why the E is on. Examine it very carefully and look for something caught in it.
If none of the above you might have to get a pro to look at it.
Hope this helps you out....

Parts of display don't work

You can try opening up the calculator (an exercise in itself, need to pry it open - use a plastic prying implement if you don't want to damage the edges) and you will see the display attached to the main board with a film ribbon. Believe it or not, this is GLUED to the board. You can sometimes bring these back to life by applying heat to the join from a hair dryer. This will soften the glue and remake the connection. This worked for me once, but it was delaying the inevitable and mine is now both broken and lost :(

Random characters lines and pixels

I've had a similar problem in the past with my TI-86. It still happens sometimes when I don't use it for a while. To fix it, all I did was set the screen to its darkest setting and left it on for 10 minutes (keep it from turning itself off, by pushing buttons every few minutes.) It works great, and the calculator is fine unless you leave it unused for a month or so. A similar solution may work for you.
