Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have an older Shuttle XPC SN41G and it worked fine untill yesterday when it refused to boot, well it booted to the windows xp splash screen then to a black screen well now it only boots to a screen with options for safe mode, safe mode with networking, normal start, and last good configuration. when any of these are chosen it opens a loading bar and hangs. Oh, I tried the ram and the HD in another computer and they function normally.

Hello

When you say you tried the HD in another machine did it boot? Generally when you slave one drive onto another it's the other or the one inherent to that PC which does the booting and then you'll be able to see the drive you just connected. If this is the case copy all the data off that hard drive that you need to keep. Now put the drive back into your shuttle and run a Windows repair to restore the master boot record. Good Luck

Shuttle computer will not finish boot up process

This is usually because the operating system is corrupt. Try to start the computer with the OS disk in the drive. This may work, if it doesn't I would suggest getting a new copy of the OS.

Shuttle has been working fine for about 4 years. Then it would be slow coming on, maybe boot up 20 mins after pressing the on button. Eventually refused to come on at all. I replaced the power supply and...

Change your BIOS battery.
I have an old Shuttle XPC sn41g2. It's been running almost constantly since it was new. About a year ago it started to be difficult, it was difficult to start and sometimes I had to try several times before it started. At the end I had to disconnect and reconnect the mains supply everytime i had to reboot the PC. Then one day I discovered that the prosessor was running at the lowest standard frequency so I went to the BIOS to set it right, did so and rebooted, and the prosessor stil wouldn't run right. After some thought I changed the BIOS battery, went to the BIOS, resat all settings, then it rebooted normally and since it has been running like new.

My shuttle pc gets part way through booting windows xp then makes clicking noise and gives up. Rebooting in safemode causes it to get partway through the xp files and then stalls

Sounds like you might have a bad CPU. If possible, try another hard drive in the system (just to eliminate the possibility of a bad hard drive) first, but my guess is the CPU.

Hard Drive Prevents any other windows device from loading

Hi, Mark Here.
Yes the setup on the xp install puts drivers into memory, but being an older version of windows B4 sta was out it does not have drivers to support it.

You could go to Microsoft & search for a new version of setup install drivers that includes sta, & download to thumb.
Really typical Windows Failure (driver not available freeze up or blue screen).
