My back door drivers side will not unlock or open. All other doors open so I think the child lock has been engaged. I managed to get the panel off with door shut. I have sprayed wd 40 in areas that I thought might unlock the door but nothing has worked. My main issue is I need the door open so I can work on this issue. Is there any way to unlock or disengage that child lock so I can at least open my door/with the door shut? Also is there any way to bypass the lock system on just one door. I really dont care if it locks or not, I need to be able to open it from the inside or outside.
For this type of problem I recommend YouTube. Always a wealth of information on rear gates door locks etc.

Testimonial: "Thank you. I actually did that, but just could not figure it out because my door was shut and the videos were mostly for vehicles with open doors. I reasoned it out and decided it was the child lock keeping it from opening. My vehicle should open from the inside even with doors locked. I found the placement of the child lock and I ran my arm up in the door shell and managed to unlock it. Door opened and unlocked. I opened and shut it several times and it opened fine. I then shut it and hit the lock button. Bad idea. Lock would not open. I knew child lock was open so I reached in and opened and closed it and it still would not unlock the door. I had to summons the spouse and he managed to hit a trigger in the door that once again unlocked it so I asked him to dis-engage the door lock (automatic) and now it opens and closes but I cant lock it. On a cooler day I will tackle further but thank goodness I managed to get it this far. Also, the switch that is mechanical that opens and closes the door seems to spin once in a while, so I am sure that needs to be replaced. THANK YOU FOR your reply, I do appreciate it very much."

sounds like the rods are disconnected the clips hold the rods in place the latching mechanism holds the handle in place as well did you replace the speakers or did a shop? if a shop did then they caused this if you did then you may have caused this either way untill you reattach the rods none of it will work. you will have to manually open the door at the latch from inside teh door behind the panel.

There is a child lock on it. Open the door and look on the edge of the door, where it mates to the body when the door closes. There's a lever there that is labeled as the child lock. It'll show her which way to switch the lever to allow the door to be opened from inside the car.

oliver i'm not sure what model of car you have but if it locks off the central locking and opens from the outside it could be the cable linkage on the rear of the handle. Or at the other end where the cable actually operates the locking mechanism. These Days they are only made of plastice and if pulled on too hard can sometimes snap or the cable can twist and the little crimped end on the cable can come free. This has happened in two of my cars and even in my Mercedes Sprinter Van. Its a quick fix if nothing is broken and the most time taken is removing the interior door panel. You may need a set of Torx bits or screw drivers and a gentle hand to remove this but its worth it in the end.

your linkage rod to the outside door handle has disconnected , if you open up the door panel to access the lock linkage rods you will find the rod that is disconnected . There is a plastic bushing the rod is secured with if it is broken you must replace it , if the rod will not stay in place replace the bushing , hope this helps you out
