I'm assuming this is an Infinity system. If so, it is an awesome, but complicated machine. If the PDF I have is correct to your machine, 72 is a high stage compressor thermal lockout in the history. This may be caused by a faulty start assist kit(potential relay), or internal overload trip in compressor. This should be addressed by a qualified and experienced service tech. I know these machines pretty well and still have so much to learn about them. So if you have no experience with it do not attempt to repair. You can clear thus code in the thermostat. It should be a "history" code, meaning it happened, but is not an issue that caused it to shut down. Hold the advanced button for about 10 secs and you'll access the installer/service mode. Locate fault history and then clear all codes. Just be advised, these codes help me see the history of operation and in turn, help me diagnose problems when I am to repair the machine. Hope this helps!

Should be either the indoor temp or outdoor temp sensor. Try cleaning the indoor air filter units.

A Carrier mod # 24ANA760A300 Infinity with an error code #72 high stage thermal cutout, What causes this?

if it's a thermal cutout that's mounted on the circuit board you may have to replace the whole board. I don't have the carrier error codes at hand. But a "thermal cutout" is normally found on the compressor. One advantage of the old (before digital) systems is that the controls were all separate. So you could replace a bad high pressure switch or contactor. Without having to replace a expensive circuit board that held most of the controls.
Not to mention being easy to damage by power surges and lightning

Does not ignite error code flashes 6 times

Look on the reverse side of the removable front panel of the Carrier. Each model will have a wiring diagram and a diagnostic chart to help you pin point the issue. Without knowing the model number the error code means something different for each model.

Model 30gx faults code

Hi, the indoor chiller unit blower section will have a sheet glued to a panel on the unit that will tell you where and what the code 302 means on the unit. Then you will be able to make the repairs you kneed.

PS the numbers above show that this is a 3 ton unit, 38CKC036. The error code more than likely will be 3 flashes from the board followed by 02 flashes. I may be wrong on that , so correct me if I am.
