My KDC-X659 STOPPED PLAYING!

I have had my car for 6 months now and it came with a Kenwood KDC-X659 MP3 player. It worked great 'til 2 weeks ago and it won't play at all! Any suggestions? I have changed the fuse but it still doesn't work.

Hi Jeka65,

I think you need to have at least 11 volts or more on the yellow and the REd wires for it to turn on. Using a volt meter set on DC volts and at least a range of 20Volts, you can read the REd wire to the Black wire and see if you have at least 11 volts. Do the same for the yellow wire and reference to the black wire. you need at least 11 volts, Your car should be running about 13.6 volts across the battery.

tip

I'm still trying to remember my unlock code but I can't ,,,,kenwood kdc - x659...

Hi there, there is a standard procedure we use to bypass the code when we have the gear on the test bench for repair. Try this and it should sort out your problem

You need the remote control to do this, if you don't have one, then you may need to go to a KENWOOD agent and get them to clear the code for you, or purchase one for your use.

KENWOOD KDC SECURITY CODE CLEAR procedure

Your code number is 5227 (KCAR)

* Press numeric key “5” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 3 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 1 time ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “7” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key

Your radio will require one of the following procedures.

Type 1
During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds (so that “…” disappears).
Then using your remote enter your code.

Type 2
Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on face of radio at the same time. The four dash lines ( . . . . ) should "disappear".

Then using your remote enter your code.

Type 3
Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030
Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset key (preset keys are the buttons on face of radio for storing you "favorite" radio stations). "C" should display.
Then using your remote, enter your code.

Enter your number from the remote control unit.

The security is canceled and the set enters the TUNER mode!

:) POSITIVE FEEDBACK :)

I get the TOC Error, when I put bought cds in.

don't think you will like this answer but, it probably time to get a new cd player... you could try using a cd cleaner designed to clean the laser or spray the insides with compressed air.

Free unlocking code for kdc w3037a

Unfortunately Kenwood codes are only available from the Main Dealer or by using a Radio Decoding Service who will connect a laptop to read the working code inside your radio`s memory chip (EEPROM)

Hi Homer, sorry mate, unless you have a remote control, thatas the only way I know of to do it.I assume that you have read this.

Other way is to ask your friends if they have the same, or go to a car audio installer in your area, and check to see if they can help you out. I used to do this for people. And not charge them. You don't by chance live in Brisbane do you?
