SOURCE: Monitor comes on and displays small box of monitor

It does the same when attached to another PC? It can be bad caps, lamp assemblies, etc.
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed HP monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

SOURCE: ok busted screen and i can't access anything on computer, say&settings must be changed in vaio control center to activate the external display option, how can i do this if i can't see anything?

You could try connecting an external monitor with whatever graphics port you have available (VGA, HDMI or DVI.) It may not show your screen automatically, but it's worth a shot. Otherwise, take it to a computer shop and have a nerd try and save your hard drive data.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the reply but i can get the HD out if that's what i wanted but what i'm trying to do is work on the computer untill i have enough money to buy replacement scree,.do you have any other way i could possibly change the setting in vaio control?"

WAKE UP FROM SLEEP MODE • Press the Power key to activate the display. • Long press on the screen to unlock. • You can pinch out on the lock icon to get quick access to Phone, Email, Messages, Audio, Camera and Calendar apps. SWITCH YOUR HANDSET TO SLEEP MODE Press the Power key to activate sleep mode. Sleep Mode activates automatically with the timeout set from Options > System settings > Display > Sleep. My laptop screen resolution is already set to 1200 *600 and windows 8 does not support in that screen resolution they want to 1200 *768 what can i do

  1. Open Screen Resolution by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering Display in the search box, tapping or clicking Settings, and then tapping or clicking Display.

  2. Tap or click Adjust resolution.

  3. Tap or click the Resolution list and find the resolution marked (Recommended). This is your monitor's native resolution-usually the highest resolution your monitor can support.

Screen Resolution in Control Panel shows the recommended resolution for your monitor.

Monitors can support resolutions that are lower than their native resolutions, but text won't look as sharp and the display might be small, centered on the screen, edged with black, or stretched.

LCD display has stopped working

More than likely only a new display will fix it, it is that whole front silver panel with the buttons and display plus a big part of the wiring loom going lots of places inside the machine.

X BOX 360 HOW CAN YOU TELL WHICH POWER BRICK TO USE

Depends a great deal on the manufacture date. Look at the Power Port, each is slightly different

Early 360s are 203w.. Zenon boards these have a small square plastic brink in the center of the two rows or prongs

late 2007, came the first revisions, the opus/Falcon boards, these are 175w, and are easily seen by the thin plastic bar the is at the top of the rows of prongs

Then came the final revision, the Jasper. It suns on 150w These have two small bars over the rows of prongs, with a small gap between the two.

Now as the boxes were revised, they all will still work with the other powers sources, meaning a 2009 system will still work with a 203, 175, or 150, but the older versions wont with the lower wattage power bricks.

For a visual look to this article about the Jasper revisions.
