Question about Western Digital My Book Essential Edition (WDG1U5000N) 500 GB Hard Drive
My My Book (160 GB) became "removed," even though power and usb remained plugged in. Now the device blinks and is not recognized by the computer. Tried unplugging/re-plugging usb and power. Tried restarting computer. Nothing helps! What's wrong?
Find another computer and plug it in. This will let you know if the problem is with the My Book or with your computer.
If it turns out to be your computer, try removing the software that the My Book installed, reboot your computer and go through the installation again.
You always have the option to call Western Digital for more help. I have called them on the My Book World and they were very helpful.
I hope this helps.
