A three-year old Samsung Galaxy s3. Trouble with getting it to charge, bought new battery. I leave it plugged in overnight, says 100% charge and then drops down to 18% when I turn on the phone.

Hi , I bought a rosewill bk-500a ,now it will not keep a charge. It is only about two weeks old. Any ideas ?

Even though it's new the battery may be shot. I bought something and it said battery good for three years and it lasted for a week. Either take it back or replace the battery yourself if you want to try. But my advise is take it back if its new.

I have a samsung galaxy s3 phone and it will not hold a charge. IF it charges to 100% and says charge complete, as soon as I unplug it from the charger it drops to like 40%.

The charge circuitry in your phone is not functioning. That's a factory repair. Go to Samsung's website and start a repair ticket.

Samsung galaxy s3 will not turn on and has crack screen

Not sure of your question. Does the phone battery charge? it's a 2 year old model so unless you have a paid extended warranty it is time for a new phone. maybe you should invest in a otter box?

Does the samsung galaxy S3 battery life run out after a couple of years?

All rechargeable batteries lose efficiency as they are charged and discharged over the course of their use. Depending on how much you use your device and how often you charge will ultimately determine how long your battery lasts. Current technology(lithium ion) has come a long way since it was first put on the market but it still has its limitations. Word of advice; Keep you eyes open for deals on replacement batteries and get you a spare.
