SOURCE: transmission fluid for 2007 pontiac G6 GT
This car does not have a auto trans dipstick, the level can only be checked by the dealer, this is a growing trend that started with most German cars, the filter is inside the trans pan and only needs changing every 60,000 miles.

may have a bad temp sensor for trany oil, or the cooler or lines may be restricked, the oil temp has to be checked when the light comes on, this will tell if its really hot or the sensor is bad, start there.
Testimonial: "Thanks, for your take; it definitely sounds very possible thats its a bad sensor, oil appears to be ok and all fluids are ok too, bringing it in"
SOURCE: How do I check Transmission Fluid on my 2007 Jeep
Jeep decided that there is no need to check the trans fluid, the trans is is sealed unit. You have a tube for the trans fluid, but it has a factory cap and no dip stick. A special tool is needed to check the fluid level.

Hello
You'll notice what appears to be a dipstick tube at the front of the vehicle on the drivers side, and it should have a warning label to use CVT oil. But when you remove the top, there's no stick. The dipstick itself is a "special tool" (Miller No. 9336). The stick is marked for fluid levels for different temperatures, although there is an acceptable range.
Read the instructions carefuly that come with the tool
Thank you!
