Question about Car APS57A Remote Start and Keyless Entry System with Trunk Releas
APS57A was professionally installed on my 2009 Chevy Silverado pickup with a 4.8L V8 engine & standard cab, 2WD. The problem is occasionally the remote start until will put the BCM (body control module) in what is called a backup mode. This is easily noticed by the radio and the lack of retained accessory power when ignition is shut off. This has accrued several times. The only way to return to normal operation is to pull the truck battery lead and reconnect. There is some incompatibility between this model and my truck. If it can't be resolved I will have to pull the module. If there is a model upgrade that may work better with my truck I would be willing to pay the additional cost. Please advice
Ask the installer if he is using the tach sensor wire for the remote start or is he using voltage? This could be where the condition you are describing occurs. Also AudioVox has beefed up it's dealer tech hotline so have your installer call them and see if there is a compatability issue. I wonder what bypass module he used? Was it an Express Kit or a DEI 555u? With the new CANBUS or LANBUS one has to be very careful when adding remote start. I believe its a somewhat simple fix. One more question? Can you DUPLICATE the problem for the shop or is it intermittant? That's a big help if a customer comes in and i can experience the sequence and see 1st hand what is happening at both the BCM & PCM because they have got to be in sync or there will be hell to pay. Let me know ... Mark@ Sounds Good to Me
