SOURCE: Feed dogs not feeding material

Make sure that you did not disengage the feed dogs by accident. You should have some type of button that allows you to control the feed dogs.

check the feeddogs & see if there in the up position, if there not move the lever or knob to the up position
if the lever is up then there is something wrong with the feeddogs & it needs to be serviced

SOURCE: The Feeder Dogs are not moving forward or backwards on my sewing machine.

Are the Feed Dogs dropped? Check your manual for the location of the switch. .... otherwise your mechanism has been compromised. Take it in for repair.

My Elna 6000: the needle does not want to move forward or backwards

The needle never moves forward/back on its own for most sewing machines. The needle bar goes up and down. The fabric moves due to the action of the feed dogs. First remove the fabric from under the presser foot. Check for tangled thread wrapped around the feed dogs or fabric/thread going down into the bobbin area in a tangle. Next check if the feed dogs are up. (When the feed dogs are down or covered (on some machines), the machine is in darning mode. The fabric will only move if you move it yourself.) With the fabric out of the way, rotate the hand wheel and check if the feed dogs are moving. Open up the bobbin compartment and clean out any lint, thread or other debris that may be tangling the mechanism. Take off the throat plate and check the feed dogs. A damaged throat plate can stop the feed dogs from moving properly. You may need to replace the throat plate.

For some machines, you may need to make sure that the unit is not in bobbin wind mode. This is usually obvious since the needle bar won't move either.

I hope this helps.

ELNA 1000 not moving fabric through.

Have you got a tangle under your fabric? If so, release the fabric and rethread your machine, making sure the foot is up during threading. Otherwise check the feed dog under the foot. There's usually a switch somewhere that brings the feed dog up or down. If it's down the fabric won't feed. Another point, what type of fabric are you sewing. If it's leather or leatherette you'll need to use a roller foot. Hope this helps.

Elna 5200Q The material is bunching up in front of the feed dogs

Are the feed dogs actually raising, moving, and dropping (raise the presser foot and hand-rotate the handwheel and watch how the feed dogs are moving)? If not, check to see if the stitch length is set well above the zero (which means it sews in place)? Perhaps the presser foot pressure is set too firm and is preventing the fabric from moving under the foot.

My elna 6000 computer does not feed the material any avice?

check that the feed dogs haven't been moved down, this is controlled by a slide at the back of the free arm adjacent to the bobbin cover

Needle is moving up and down but it doesn't move forward

if you have a manual, check and see where the feed dog lever is and make sure it's in the up position. when the feed dog is in the down position it's in the darn mode staying in one place,, but when it's in the up position the machine will sew.
here is a link for a manual, if you don't have a manual

My Needle just stitch in one place

check in the manual and see where the feed dog lever is a check to see if it's in the up position for sewing or in the down position for darning, if it's in the up position, then the machine needs to be checked to see if there is something wrong with the feeddogs or the feed dog lever..

Cloth will not move forward

Cogs are feed dogs.

Check your manual to see if there is a pressure adjustment for the presser foot.

This may be a nob on top of the machine directly over the presser foot.

Turning the adjustment left/less or right/more pressure.

Also, refer to the manual for cleaning the bobbin and feed dog area as lint may be causing a bit of the problem.

My kenmore 385 won't feed fabric

Check to see what pattern is selected. Be sure it isn't the buttonhole.Select straight stitch.Move the stitch length setting to 4.Turn the handwheel and see if the feed dogs move forward. Press the reverse lever and see if they move backwards. Select straight stretch stitch and turn the wheel to see if the feed dogs move forward and backward.Check the presser foot release on top of the machine and make sure there is pressure on the foot.
Sometimes the reverse assembly on this machine stops working because it has the wrong type of grease on it and it turns into a hard gummy mess that won't let it work.
