Question about JVC GRDX77 MiniDV Camcorder

1 Answer

Tape does not play

I have a JVC GR-DX77U and until yesterday i was able to view my tapes on it, but then yesterday i wanted to watch another tape and the screen just stayed all blue so i put a different tape that i had just watched the day before (which was working fine) and it did the same thing so i know the problem does not come from the tapes. But i don't understand why the camcorder does not play anymore, although the recording function still works.
Any thoughts?
Can't bring it to the store i bought it from since they went out of business (circuit city)

It is possible that the play back function is jammed. The other is the belt drive is broken. You dont have to use the store you bought it from there are many electronic stores that have their own techs. Spare parts for JVC are easy to source.

Does this cam, play the mini dv tapes????

If you are referring to the JVC GR-DVL520, yes it does play Mini DV tapes, as well as records to them. It will not play Mini DV tapes that were recorded on an HDV camera. HDV is used by any Mini DV camera that records HD video.

E04 Error

Eject tape leaving cover open and remove battery. Re-insert battery and re-insert tape also leaving cover open. Keep repeating this process until eo4 message disappears. This worked for my GR-DVL100e after about four repeats. After getting your camcorder operational, they say it is good practice not to leave tape in camcorder when not in use.

No playback on JVC GR-D72

It souunds like the problem is in the Vid-PC connection. I suggest you start by downloading the latest version of whatever software you have used to capture and view.

Also - uninstall any hardware in the PC that is used to capture (just remove from system device list) and then restart the PC and let it detect and re-install.

If you don't know how to do these steps, then you'll need geek help.
