Question about Televison & Video

I have a panasonic PT-51HX40 and the picture is good but occasionally the tv will just turn off. If you leave it for a minute and turn it back on then it works again. What can I do to fix it?

Hi,
Sounds few electrolytic capacitors in power supply and deflection section are weak / bad and require to be replaced.
If you are familiar with electronics stuff repair. please take off back cover of TV and look for bulged/ leaky electrolytic capacitors on main board, also check / repair dry solder joints underneath main board.
You can download repair manual of PT-51HX40 from HERE for small fee that has exploded views and schematics.
Thanks.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

My panasonic PT-51HX40 turns off by itself

There can be several causes for this, few of which you can do anything about. However, a few things to try:

1) Replace the batteries on your remote control.
2) Try resetting the logic functions on your tv by unplugging it for a minute, then plugging it back in.
3) Try covering up the infra-red receptor on the front of your TV to see if you're getting unwanted signals from the receptor. taping a piece of foil over that area is perfect. If it doesn't stop after doing these two things you'll probably need to take it to a shop.
4) If this does stop it, then look for unexpected signal sources. Have you added a remote control extender? Added a new device to your audio-video system? Changed to a new remote?

I hope this helps. Joe

Tv wont turn on> is there a reset switch?

reset button can apply when the tv turns on. first the tv has a short circuit and has to be repaired in order to be able to reset the tv to the original settings created in the program as brightness, color etc.
your tv now needs a visit to the workshop first, to turn on.

It shuts off all by its self but not all the time

If I was working on this set I would look for cold solder joints on IC501 Vertical output IC.

The most common problems with Panasonic's is the "DG" board. It usually is not the leat expensive module to replace and cannot be repaired it has to be replaced.
