I have a bose lifestyle 38 system & would like to swap some of the bose 'cube' speakers w/ high quality speakers (polk). Is this possible using the existing bose amp (acoustimass)?
this is possible, however not a very good idea. Bose speakers are designed a little different than other brand speakers, the Equalizer built into the bose system will probably not sound amazing when you hook up your other speakers. Are you looking for more bass? cleaner highs?
if you want more bass, you could try doubling up your subs, if you want cleaner highs you could buy Bose Jewel Cube Speakers (purchased from a Bose Built-Invisible Dealer

I am getting spotty sound from all satelite speakers except middle, no matter whether it is CD, TV, or stored music. Not just one speaker but all speakers. The sound is 98% on but you can hear the sputtering of the signal. Not sure how to fix. This is a system 38. spotty sound coming out of at least four of five satelites. the system is in a dry room that is generally cool.

I have no sound at all coming out of the Bose (lifestyle 38)system and also cannot get sound when playing a dvd on it through the TV (and therefore not using the bose speakers). In addition the system is stating that no speakers are connected. I have checked all connections and everything is connected (including the base speaker unit).
