Question about Heating & Cooling
If 5 years on parts, you still have until Sept. 9, this year, to avail. Besides, if the problem is with the compressor, its a lifetime warranty you said. :)
The best thing to do is avail your warranty from an authorized service center to avoid you spending more.

Usually the warranty on work done to A/C carries a 30 day warranty on parts. This can vary depending on what is written on the sales docket or quote. It may not be the valve so much as the temperature sensor which would have been moved when the unit was repaired. This is a shileded cord with a piece of fine copper tubing that looks as if it has been flattened at the end. This is what senses the temperature from around the unit and feeds back the information to cut off when the temperature reaches a preset level. Find it and move it from where it is. To its extreme length and closer to the inner workings. As you dont have the model and I dont have a manual display for that model it is a try it and see situation. But its my take that that is why its not cutting out till the whole exterior temp drops
