Question about NorStar Startalk Flash 2 Phone

My company acquired a facility with an existing Norstar StarTalk Flash system installed. I have reset the entire system set up the mailboxes and the CCR Tree. The problem is when I dial into the mail phone line from an outside line I get the following message "Mailbox not initialized and cannot accept messages. The party you are trying to reach is unavailable." It then goes into the home menu for the CCR and functions fine. I cannot figure out why I am getting the first message. Any suggestions that you have would be appreciated.

You must initialize the general delivery mailbox. Dial into mail box 100 and record a name.

Automated Attendant sends calls to general delivery mailbox


Make sure the set is not forwarded anywhere.
Try F#4 or F#984 to cancel any forwards.

I don't want to delete a staff's mailbox who is off on sick leave but callers are still leaving messages eventhough I changed the message to the date the employee returns - is there other options


You can change the greeting from a prime to an alternate greeting, record the alternate message that the person is on extended leave, then set the mailbox not to accept messages.

Lost system administrator password for startalk flash. Cannot login to program startalk


to reset the administrator pasword enter feature 985 press 9, at the password prompt enter 73738767793 (resetsmpwsd) and press ok or #,press yes to reset password. password should be defaulted to 0000. then try Feature 983. if your system has 2 digit intercom #s your password is 120000. 1020000 if you have 3 digit intercom numbers

StarTalk Flash is 1.7.00 + caller ID


The Star Talk Flash is a voice mail prduct. The caller ID feature is a phone system feature. If your system is a norstar CICS or a MICS the caller ID will work only if you have the caller ID capable central office circuit packs installed. Look on the card and see if the label has "CLID". If it dose there is also additional programming required for each set under.... terminals &sets/telco features/featue assignments/show line/caller ID...set:Y. You also have to program (under sets) /telco features/caller ID: Y.

Norstar system won't recognize any features We had a power outage and now our phone system will not recongnize the voicemail or mailbox features. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks


Depending on the type of voicemail it can take up to 10 min, to fully come up. Is the power light lit in the voicemail cabinet? Also what kind of voicemail is it?

Just need to reset the time on the main console norstar startalk 180 - manual doesnt have set up instructions


To set the time on the startalk 180: enter feature 984
the display should say log:
enter 1020000 and press ok
display should say <date>
press next if ok or chng if not
display should say enter hhmm:
enter time in 12 hour format
display should say retry am pm
press applicable key
press next then Rls

Unable to retrieve startalk messages from remote location


To Access Your Mailbox from Outside of the Office:
1. Call the main office number or your DID (if applicable.
2. If the call is answered by a receptionist, have them transfer you to your voicemail box
3. If the call is answered by the company greeting, or your personal greeting, Enter: * *
4. At the prompt, enter your mailbox #(extension #. and password all together

Had to rebuild mailboxes and now the main inbound number cannot dial internal extensions.


Does feature 983 still show as an inactive feature? You need to reinitialize the feature codes if the system was reset.

Please post what is currently happening.
