I had a Centennial washer on a service call doing this just the other day... After putting it trough diagnostics I found no errors and all the washer's mechanics tested okay. After resetting the control by putting it trough the diagnostics mode it continued to repeat cycles without restarting the washer.
Try running it through diagnostics and see what error codes are in the memory. (Guide is linked below)
What are the codes? do they give any more clues?
clear the codes and run a test cycle.
does it work?
if it checks out properly with the diagnostics it's probably a bad control board...

It definitely could be a clogged or bad pump. However, it's always a good idea to check for error codes before replacing a part...Especially expensive ones...

This is a manual. Since there are so many versions, you might need to search for the appropriate one. I searched for "Maytag centennial top load washer repair manual".
