I have a 93 Mercury Tracer with a Ford 1.9L engine. About 2 months ago it started idling high and low when I am parked or at a stop light. After checking my air filter, I noticed that it was sucking oil...

put a can of seafoam in your fuel tank at your next fill up after doing the following
replace your pcv valve
replace all the loose, worn, broken, or missing vacuum hoses one the entire engine
clean the air breather tubes, the whole air cleaner, and if necessary the air filter
that should do it for you

Check engine lght on and 2 codes p0103 and p0112

P0103 HYUNDAI - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit High InputPossible causes- Dirty mass air flow sensor
- Dirty mass air filter
- Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted
- Mass air flow sensor electrical circuit poor connection
- Intake air leaks
- Faulty mass air flow sensor
Tech notesBefore replacing the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with low compress air or mass air flow sensor cleaner. Reset code and drive vehicle. If the code comes back, it may be necessary to replaced the mass air flow sensor.
P0112 HYUNDAI - Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit Low InputPossible causes- Dirty air filter
- Intake air temperature (IAT) sensor harness is open or shorted
- Intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical circuit poor connection
- Faulty intake air temperature sensor
When is the code detected? An excessively low voltage from the sensor is sent to ECM.

I changed the throttle and still got the p507 and the car still revs up when parked..now what??

Hi.

If you are referring to P1507 (poor idle), check the IAC valve. That is usually behind the problem. Clean IAC valve using carb cleaner Check the parts comprised in IAC system (valve, connector, wiring, solenoid). Use the carb cleaner also to clean throttle body. Check that everything is OK in the air intake (no broken parts) and try replacing filter.

Sometimes it is difficult to test in full the IAC valve. Try performing the general testing described summarily here. If that does not reveal any problem but still is very low, clean throttle body, MAF and air intake temperature sensors, replace air filter, check air intake and finally get back to IAC valve and replace it.

Below a diagram showing the IAC valve in the 4 cylinder engine. Position is slightly different in the six cylinder:

Has not made the zapping noise in a long time...I know my house is dusty :)...used to make the noise before...is the cell worn out or broken

The air intake filter probably needs cleaning or replacing. If it needs replacing, you will have to buy that from your local Oreck dealer.

My kid has a 1998 Toyota Foreunner, 118,000 miles. Had the oil changed at local quickie oil change place who also checked the air filter. Now, it stalls intermittantly after starting. Check engine light...

First look along air intake tubes, be sure no sensors were unplugged or pulled out of place. Lean codes are usually air mix related. i.e. mass air flow or air temp sensor. also look over all plastic vacuum tubes, be sure none are broken. listen for a hissing sound.

Daewoo Lanos 2001 SE starts, runs briefly, misfires & stops

replace your intake air box filter (remember check to see what direction it faces) an arrow (indicating air flow direction) on the air filter should face the engine intake. next check your wide open throttle switch (located in the intake tube) for smooth flap movement or, a broken wire.

Engine idles rough at stops and in park is it idiling sensor or something

This could be a lot of things. There is no 'sensor' but there is an IAC (idle control valve) that lets air into the engine when you aren't using the throttle. But, when this part goes bad your engine usually will idle really high or not at all. You could have a slight misfire or broken/worn engine/transmission mount. A tune-up could eliminate maintainence caused problems. You should replace the air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, PCV valve, and run a good injector cleaner through like Chevron Techron or Valvoline Synpower. If this doesn't solve your rough idle, then you likely have a broken mount somewhere.

I HAVE A NOISE AROUND THE THROTTLE /INTAKE SIDE ON MY 06 TAURUS 3.0.IT SPEEDS UP WHEN YOU SPEED UP THE ENGINE AND IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS IN THE INTAKE.

Most likely the rubber tube that connect the intake manifold to the air filter is broken . Or it may be just a loose cable that rattles.

High rev problem

this problem I find in alot of 3.4 ltre grand-ams and that is the wiring go to the intake air temp sensor is broken at the connector. the wire will look good but in the insulation it will be broken. just give each wire a tug, if the wire pulls out then that is the broken one.
