Question about Samsung HL-P4667W 46" Rear Projection HDTV

Broken color wheel and lamp ballast on Samsung 4667W

It sounds just like my 4667W when the color wheel disintegrated. Apparently its fairly common on DLP sets. There is a site that has step by step instructions on replacing the color wheel. I used it when I did mine, but I don't remember the site, sorry. After I replaced it, the set fired up and displayed a washed out picture, apparently the lamp ballast needs replacing. Any suggestions? I'm waiting for manna from heaven to be able to afford to fix it. For the short time it worked I loved the set, but it was $1000 plus for 15 months of HDTV, and Samsung is NOT cooperative!

Samsung HLR5067WX DLP - No picture, lamp light flashing

The colour wheel will not spin until the light has lit. The light will not ignite if the ballast unit detects a faulty fan, (checked) or the lamp door is open. The processor must be working as the lamp light flashes so I would say, ballast especialy if the lamp that came out is physically broken. Not cheap, even from flea bay!

3 blinking lights

If lamp did not cure it:

Look with lamp removed in direction lamp faces---look to see if the color wheel is shattered or missing pieces--common failure.

Usually but not always if Wheel is bad you heard before a high pitched or fan like sound when set was on.

The only other common failure is the Ballast which powers and drives the lamp----At the moment of turn on if the lamp lights briefly and goes out the Ballast is less likely to be bad.

Samsung hlr5667w that won't turn on. Good lamp and ballast

Any light blink on the front. Whats the voltage to the ballast from the power supply. Common problem on these sets are bad lamp door switch. Try shorting the switch. Color wheel also is problematic but usually will be noisy and cause shut down. Check power board for swollen capacitors. Hope this helps

Why does my samsung tv cut off by itself after 1-2 min and flash a red lamp button?

A little explanation first- this model (as do most Samsung DLP sets) will try 3 times to get the lamp lit before the microprocessor will give up and then the 3 lites on the front will blink indicating a LAMP failure. This process takes about 1 to 2 minutes. In order of probabilty, the failures are:
1) A faulty lamp and/or ballast. REPLACE LAMP AND/OR BALLAST
However, a faulty lamp and/or ballast are not the only things that will give this blink code-
2) If the color wheel has a bad bearing and turns too slow or not at all, the microprocessor WILL NOT let the lamp light, and then give a LAMP blink code. A bad color wheel will normally have some sort of abnormal sound- a low growl or high pitched whine is common. REPLACE COLOR WHEEL
3) ALSO, if the microprocessor (on the DMD board) in its color wheel rotation detection or processing fails, once again the lamp is prevented from coming on and you get a LAMP blink code. REPLACE DMD BOARD
IF THE SET EVER COMES ON WITH A PICTURE for even a fraction of a second or though it takes many tries, the lamp and ballast are good. The problem must be either the color wheel or DMD board.

I have sound only, is there any hope and what could I expect to pay to fix it, please?

Hi,Do you hear clicking or like wanting turn on? If you do it could be an issue with the ballast the ballast is the board that powers the lamp, you can replace it your self here's how: http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/samsung/bp47-00033a.php and estimated price is around $40-$50 If you hear buzzing, whirling, spinning or high pitch sounds? It will be the color wheel, The Samsung color wheels spin anywhere from 6,000 to 15,000 revolutions per minute (RPM’s)--It is one of the few consumable parts in your Samsung TV. The average life expectancy from our data logging shows the Samsung color wheels are fairly reliable with a MEAN average of 5-8 years.Basically the light of the lamp goes through and creates the colors on the tv here's how to replace it: http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/samsung/bp96-01579a.php Stimated time is around $60-$80.00 If you dont hear any of that ,tv is between 2-4 yrs and sound but no pic it will be time to replace the lamp.Samsung uses Philips lamps make sure you get those Original.

No Picture But Sound

I have a HNL5065W samsung that i just repair if it was the lamp you would not get sound,When Lamp goes out set will not come on only Flashing front lights, how long does yours play before cutting OFF? There is a couple of capacitors that will go bad on power board,CK to see if any of the capacitors are puffed up on top if so thats your problem.,But remember Ballast starts up LAMP CK the big capacitor on ballast board and small ones ,also Keep in mind it could be Ballast,if set keeps playing with sound and no picture another thing make sure nothing has come unpluged on DMD board, this board also will keep lamp from firing.OK heres another thing IF COLOR WHEEL is not spinning correctly lamp will not fire up, if it spins to slow or too fast most samsungs start out with Bad Color Wheel.I Buy on E-Bay got My lamp for 85.00 Ballast board 55.00 Ballast board at other companys 117.00 plus shipping! Color Wheel was 65.00.

Samsung LA40R71BD will not turn on stanby button keeps flashing and making a clicking sound.

This could be lamp or ballast. First I would check the lamp. It could be bad (causing the clicking) or it may just need to be reseated with the ballast. If the lamp is not bad make sure it is connected to the ballast and pushed all the way in. If you still hear the clicking (the clicking may be the ballast trying to light the lamp. when turning on your tv, look to see if the ballast is flickering causing the clicking) and your lamp is good and seated correctly, then you ballast is going bad and it needs to be replaced. Last but not least. If that is not the problem then the clicking is a broken color wheel. A broken color wheel will sound like a clicking or a high squeal when going bad.

No picture, no sound?!?!

This could be a number of things. Your lamp could be bad or it needs to be reseated to the ballast. The lamp is trying to light and it will make the ballast flicker (that is the clicking sound) or your ballast is bad and it needs replaced (it will flicker and click too). Or your color wheel is broken and it will make a clicking sound when turning. If the color wheel is not spinning or broken it will not light the lamp. No lamp no picture.
