Question about Frigidaire GLTF2940ES Front Load Washer
I have a Frigidaire Tumble Action Washer model GLTR1670AS0 which is 6 years old and I love this washer. A couple days ago, while it was running I heard a loud cyclic, throbbing sound which occurred during the spin cycle. The drum seemed much looser than usual, as if it wasn't properly attached. I opened the back and found one of two shock absorbers was broken, and a piece of the solid body rear shell that encloses the tumbler was chipped off, leaving an opening near the top with about a 1 inch diameter.
I am going to replace the broken shocks. It's in my financial best interest to spend as little as possible, so I was thinking about gluing the chipped shell piece back on. What type of glue should I use? Perhaps some strong superglue? I cannot tell what material the shell is made of. Does this seem sensible?
Check the diagram for the part you described as missing a chunk, it might be possible to get it as a replacement part for not much money. I would caution against trying to use any type of "super glue" since it doesn't have the durability to withstand the repeated shock and vibration that this part will experience. If the broken part is item #22 (shell/rear bearing) then the cost for the part is $170.00 - check the diagram to verify what your broken part looks like at the following link:

IF I was going to attempt to repair (glue) the part, I'd use something like JB Weld for plastics as it would likley provide better results and I'd try to keep the inside as free as possible of any excess so as not to snap clothes, etc. Good luck to you and hope I've helped.
