I have a maytag Model number MFI2269VEB6 refrigerator the front panel goes off will randomly turn back will stay on hours to days.

Is off currently. if I push a button it will light up. Moved the wires above the door and it will go off and on. This has been happening for about a week. I wouldn't think it would be back control panel if is running at time. Could this be a short or bad dispenser panel?

SOURCE: Ice and Water not dispensing. Light button not working

http://www.repairclinic.com/0100_1.asp
There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.

SOURCE: Maytag refrigerator is leaking water

Your freezer has a drain that leads to the exterior drain pan beneath the unit. Occasionally this drain can become clogged resulting in standing water inside your freezer, due to line freeze over. This can, also, cause a run-off, as stated in your post. In the freezer, standing water will become ice and may result in defrost problems or inadequate coldness.

You will need to Clear the drain by forcing a solution of water and bleach or water and baking soda into the drain line with a basting syringe. If the solution will not flow through, slide a length of ¼ inch flexible tubing into the drain tube to push the clog through to the drain pan. Remove the tubing after clearing the clog. This will correct the issue.

The drain is located either on the floor of the refrigerator, beneath the vegetable crisper, or in the wall behind a drain funnel.

NOTE_It is important for the refrigerator to be level. If it is not level, doors may not open or close properly and may not seal tightly. Also, drainage from the defrost cycle might be impaired as might the ice making cycle. The appliance was engineered based on it being installed in a level position. While there may be some tolerance for out-of-level installation, the appliance will operate at its best when properly leveled.

Place a level on top of the refrigerator near the front. Do not put it on the door because the door may not be aligned with the refrigerator case. Check that the refrigerator is level from side to side. Next turn the level to check that it is level from front to back.

If it is not level, adjust one or more of the adjustable leveling feet until it is level. The feet are bolts that can be turned to raise or lower the refrigerator. If they cannot be adjusted with your fingers, use a crescent wrench or pliers.

If you have an ice-maker, it should also be checked for level after first leveling the refrigerator. An ice-maker that is out of level will spill water into the ice bin or into the freezer. It can be repositioned by loosening the mounting screws, adjusting it for level and then re-tightening the screws.

SOURCE: I don't know how to turn on the door panel

I had same issue. The control panel had been set to Sabbath mode. Hold down the "DOOR ALARM" button for 3 seconds. Then lights will turn on on both display windows. Scroll using the + and/or - sign on the left side display until "SAB" is shown. Then scroll using the + or - sign on the right side display until OFF is shown. Finally, hold the "DOOR ALARM" button down again for 3 seconds. All should be good to go!

Person says it shuts off after defrost cycle?

Good day,
You'll need to take possession and have it running for a few days before sorting it out. A start capacitor will only affect the compressor, not the fans. That's your first test.
If it shuts down completely for hours, then it is either the thermostat or the defrost control. They are both mounted in the top console up front. The thermostat can be tested with an ohm meter after you drop the the front top panel. However, just playing with a sticky thermostat can sometimes cause it's contacts to close throwing your diagnosis off.
The second item is the defrost control. It can be either a timer or a solid state adaptive control.
If it's a timer you should be able to advance it by turning it's shaft clockwise until it turns on. If it's an adaptive control, replace it and the defrost thermostat in the freezer compartment behind the rear panel.

What you haven't described, is when it turns off during the defrost cycle and won't turn on, how did the current owner get it back on.
Important question.

Maytag 5500 AWW Turns off randomly shortly after starting

Check out the motor control board near the floor on the right side. These have a high failure rate on the Neptunes. Maytag redesigned both the motor and motor control board to be more reliable. While inspecting this board, you are looking for a blown 10 amp fuse and /or burnt electronic components. If you have either... then you will need the the new motor conversion kit which includes the new motor, new motor control board and the wire harness. What you describe are signs the motor control board is nearing its end of life...

The kit takes about an hour to install. See www.neptunewaxmotor.com for disassembly photos so you can inspect the motor control board.
