I presume it is a combined fridge/freezer. the reason for this is probably because it uses 2 compressors one for the fridge and one for the freezer. sounds like the fridge has lost its gas or the thermostat has packed in. turn the thermostat up and see if you can hear the compressor start up. if not then you will have to either replace the fridge freezer or get a repair person out to look at it.
Sounds like a defrost component Dave Start by turning the defrost timer slowly clockwise until refrigerator stops running and then stop. Open freezer and look and feel. Is defrost beginning to melt the ice? Fridge Freezer Timer

Hello there,
The reason your fridge is freezing up is simply because there is a problem with the defrost unit of the refrigerator. The defrost thermostat simply could have gone bad and therefore is not getting the defrost heater to start work.
Have the defrost thermostat tested and replaced once found faulty.
Hope this was of help to you.

This
problem could occur due to various reason.First you have to resolve for
the cause of the issue. First Check the back wall or floor of the
freezer section for frost. The Freezer(evaporator) fan is running?.This
fan problem is very hard to detect. The DC motor for the fanwears out
the RPM's are effected. It gives the illusion that it is running
fine, but it doen't have enough force to supply air circulation for both
the freezer and the refrigerator See weather the condenser coil for
blockage from dust and the condenser fan is running. If you have
frost in the freezer there is a problem with the defrost systemand the
freezer will start to warm eventually as well as the fresh food
section.Defrost system consist of: 1)Defrost terminator. 2)Defrost
heater/s. 3)Defrost timer. 4)Ddaptive defrost control. Any
one of this part may be defctive. So we have to replace or repair
accordingly. Defrost timer: Try turning the screw with screw
driver in clock wise direction or anticlockwise direction and wait for
35 min to check Defrost timer has any problem. Solution for If you
have frost in the freezer and make the fridge work: You could defrost
the freezer by disconnecting the power to the refrigerator and letting
it sit for at least 24 hours with both Doors wide open to allow the
frost to melt completely but it will build up again in 1-2 weeks and
start the warming up again.

The defrost cycle is either failing to start (problem with defrost timer) or is not heating the defrost coil (most often defective defrost thermostat.)
When you defrosted did you remove the panel at the back of the freezer to defrost the drain hole for the defrosted water to drain out?
If it defrost normally it will defrost about every 10 hours. If this is happening many time a day the control board is the reason for the problem. Now if it is defrosting and the water is coming from the rear of the freezer the defrost drain is blocked. the part number for the mother control board is WR55X10942 Your defrost thermostat may also be stuck and causing the temperatures to increase drastically. I would like to follow up with you on this problem if you don't mind
