Power switch blinks red and the brushes stop working

Sounds like it might be a moisture issue (one of the causes that will not allow the vacuum to function fully) IF you ran the vac over a wet part of the floor (like I did, too soon after I had shampooed a carpet) OR had cleaned/washed/rinsed the HEPA-prefilters and they had not dried completely. If whatever part of the vac's system "see's or senses" moisture, it WILL fault and not let the bar operate. Sounds silly hearing something like that, but I think the same reason is pointed out in the owners manual. IF this is not the cause, I might lean toward a overload condition pertaining to the bar mechanism, like something binding the bar or in the drive assembly. Hope this helps in some way!

Two rollers on bottom not rotating when cleaner is on.

Drive belt on the closest roller is either chewed up, clogged with stuff or the end of the pulley is sheared off. Access is gained by removing the front piece of the nozzle (one screw in center, on top of flat deck), then the two screws on the clear roller cover (left side of the machine). One screw (with a flange on it) holds the arm that holds the two rollers. Remove this arm to see if just the belt needs replacing. Anything more than just the belt, take to a repair shop. Note: most repair shops will not work on a fluid pumping/spraying problem on these 2X machines (too hard to diagnose) so flush the system with fresh water when you are done shampooing. If machine needs replacing, you are better-off with a Bissell Proheat (also has two tanks, rinse and soap control, onboard upholstery tools, etc. but is mechanical not electrical controls. Easy to work on and more reliable. Note: With any of these home machines yo MUST VACUUM< VACUUM< VACUUM before shampooing. They can not handle the grit, crud, hair, etc. So vacuum FIRST before shampooing.

Constsntly applys water even when shut off/ not running took apart handle I believe trigger is broken

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. The trigger definately could be broken but before you take it to a repairer i would really thouroughly clean any little foam filters and rubber seals you can find. I do a lot of work on the Vax range of machines (very similar) and 90% of the time it is the filters and/or the seals once they get a build up of shampoo on them they no longer seal properly but once removed and rinsed thoroughly they work again. Rinsing the machine through with clean water after a shampoo job will help this not happen again.
Hope this helps
Happy Vacuuming! :)

Will not **** up shampoo

It sounds like a suction problem. Try checking the lint filter. It is located in the top clear plastic section (the one with the dial to switch from floor to tool use). It is a small red filter, about 1 inch square, with a little door on it. Flip open the door and you will probably find it is clogged with hair, carpet fibre, etc.. Clean it out and your suction problem will hopefully be solved.

How to shampoo stairs

HERE is the manual
When rating my solution rate the clarity of the explanation NOT whatever you like Kirby stair shampoo system. I do not believe this is the way to shampoo either but this is not me who designed it. Will get the job done but it is a lot of scrubbing and rubbing.

Good Luck

My Kirby shampooer - G4 - hardly used any water from the tank and no suds at all. Pet hair did blow out of the small slotted holes in the tray as I moved the shampooer back and forth, but the carpet was...

Few things:
Make sure the sponge and the valve under the sponge (water tank) is clean.
Make sure you follow the instructions (f you do not have the manual you can find one HERE)
See if the straw inside the water tank is not clogged (happens when you use toilet tissue or some other paper to dry inside of the tank after you shampoo)

Noise - if it is noisy al the time - it may need new shampooer brush roll. Also check the tray - bar brush roll bearings overheat and melt the tray... Never submerse brush roll in water when cleaning it. Clean it simply by lifting the shampooer nozzle and letting it spin for 10-20 seconds. If you have tu put it under running water - put it back in the shampooer nozzle (with tray and shield) put on Kirby and turn it on for 20 seconds or so. If it stays soaken wet - moisture damages barings.

Good luck

Turning itself off

With newer models will not work things that you attach to the vacuum such as the hose and the carpet shampoo attachment. Loose attachments will work just fine. It is same diameter holes that are being used in later models.

Switch - there is not much you can do without getting inside of the vacuum. You have to access inside and get it fixed.

No suds when shampooing

The sponge filter is in the large opening on the underside of the kirby shampoo tank. It is where the shampoo tank connects to the kirby. The cap the manual is referring to is the shampooer tank cap. It looks like a cup.

If the mesh screen in the hose is in place (try pulling it out of the hose and seating it in the tank where the hose connects.) and you're still having very little suds...(I'm assuming you're using Kirby shampoo as well)...I would suggest going slower when yours "laying down suds". And lower the shampooer head all the way to its lowest setting. I have found if there are a lot of oils in the carpet, the emulsifiers in the shampoo break down quickly and make the suds "disappear".

Be sure to go back over the carpet with the tank in the off position to scoop up any excess moisture. If excessive oil (from cooking, barefeet, and pets are main causes) is the cause of the lack of suds, numerous shampooings will rectify that situation.

Hope this helps!!

Cleaning upholstery with the Kirby?

it depends on the make of the kirby you are using but most kirby systems come with a portable shampooer and special shampoo. I would not recommend using your zip brush for shampooing purposes, the zippbrush is designed to loosen up dog hair, dirt, ect. when vacuuming. to shampoo upholstery do the following: remove bag from side of machine, place hose where bag goes, remove power head from front of the machine, place air intake valve on front of machine where power head was (intake valve kinda shaped like a pig nose with small holes on end) attach portable shapooer to end of hose and fill with water and kirby shampoo spray shampoo witch is foamy looking on whatever you are shampooing, rub into fabric w/a brush and let sit till dry. when dry turn kirby back into a hand held vacuum by putting powerhead back on front of machine and putting bag back on side of machine, then vacuum furiture. (make sure it is 100% dry before you vacuum because Kirby is not a wet vac!) Hope this helped ya out a little
