Same Problem - Stuck Relay

After turning off the power, I took out the relay and loosened it up with my finger. The problem was solved.

Yes but the problem will come back until you replace the relay

83 caddy DeVille new fuel pump no power?

There should be a fuse (probably a 15 amp (blue) fuse, or maybe a 10 amp red fuse) under the hood in the fuse block. Find the fuse and check it. That fuse sends power to the fuel pump relay (also under the hood), so when relay is activated by the engine computer, the power is sent on to the fuel pump in the gas tank.

Find and check the fuse, then see if the relay has power to it -use a voltmeter or test light. If power is there at the relay, hold your finger on the relay while someone turns key to on, not start. You should feel the relay click, meaning the engine computer has activated the relay which should send power to the gas tank.
This is how you test for power to the pump when it won't do anything.

Fuel pump does not come on when you turn the key to on but it comes on when you crank on it. Any suggestions what to check ?

Try a new fuel pump relay. It should be under the hood in the relay/fuse block. Relays only seldom go bad, so if not the relay, maybe the wiring to or with the relay. Try this: hold your finger lightly on the relay, while someone turns the key to on,not start. If you feel a click, the "coil side " of relay is good. So the problem may be with the power side of relay-either relay is bad or the power feed is missing. If you have a test light or voltmeter, you could test for power at one of the relay's terminals. One terminal should have power at all times, so key could be off, pull the relay, and check for power. If one terminal has voltage (battery voltage), and you felt the click, probably a bad relay. If no power to the relay, key off, then check the fuel pump fuse. The feed for the pump is missing.
If you do not feel a click from relay with key turned to on, either relay is bad, or the signal from the computer to relay is missing, or the ground for the relay's coil side is bad.

Maybe I can give a little help. Do you have the 4.0 liter straight six engine? This should apply as well if you have the V8 engine. check engine light...:With key on, does the light turn on? If not, it may not be getting power. Have to check that first, check all fuses in the under hood relay/fuse block. The check engine light should turn on with key in on position, just as an alert that the PCM is powered, and ready to work.

" electric to coil..." With key on, the dark green/black wire to the coil should have battery voltage. In that fuse/relay block will be a relay called an Automatic Shut Down relay (ASD relay). When the PCM turns this relay on, power is sent to the ignition coil on the green/black wire. The power feed for the ASD relay is fuse 2, a 20 amp fuse in the Power Distribution Center -the fuse/relay block under the hood.

So you have a couple of things to check: Make sure the PCM is powered. If it is, hold your finger lightly on the ASD relay while someone turns the key to on. You should feel it click on. If it does, but no power at the coil, check if fuse 2 is sending power to the relay, and check the green/black wire from relay to coil. If no relay action, possibly a bad relay, or the PCM is not turning the relay on.

I have a 2012 Speed Triple R, the indicators light up but don't flash. What would be causing this?

If you are saying that the turn signals stay on without flashing the common problems are:
1. The turn signals relay is broken or 2. The socket that connect wires to the relay has a imperfect contact. First try to remove the relay and clean the socket and the pins from relay with some contact cleaner spray. Also you could give some kick with the fingers to the relay. Could it be stuck. Please reply.

I have an Adcom GFA 555 type II that won't shut off when the power switch is turned off...I'm assuming a relay problem?

please replace power switch to solve amplifier problem as power switch internal contacts seems stuck and does not disengage to turn power Off.

My 1996 Dodge caravan won't start. There's a clicking sound near the fuse box under the hood when i turn the key. i have checked the starter/solenoid. Any suggestions?

OK...this definetly sounds like the starter/solenoid, but not because it is faulty, but possibly due to low battery power......this clicking you are hearing might be the starter relay........what checks have you done already

switch it with a good relay,

it should click when you turn the key on, put your finger on it and have someone turn the key on,,

If your pump dont humm when the key is first turned on, you should 1st check fuse, then relay, then check for power at pump if you get power at pump them the pump is bad

Refrigerator not cooling

the clicking sound you can hear is the relay or clixon as sometimes it is known by trying to start the compressor it may be stuck,first turn off the power to the refridgerator then turn the fridge so that you can see the motor,on the side of the motor you will see a small plastic cover remove it to expose the relaly remove it by pulling it towards you exposing 3 pins in a triangle shape give it a shake to free the solenoid inside the relay relace in the same way you took it off power up the fridge listen to see if you can hear the motor run constanly if it just starts and then goes of its more than likely the compressor is us

Heat on thermostat won't turn off when switched to the off position. Blower runs when heat is turned to the off position. The fan is on automatic.

95% chance that the heat relay is stuck closed (on)

You can disconnect power, locate the heat relay, see if you have continuity between the two leads on the load side of the relay. (with the two wires off)
If you do, the relay is stuck. Sometimes you can lightly tap the relay and it will unstick, but chances are it will just stick again soon.

If the relay is stuck/sticking, it needs to be replaced.

They usually run anywhere from 6 to 26 bucks at the local HVAC supply house.

Starter relay


I don't think that 91 had a relay, but they do have a start switch located on the colum close to the firewall, right around the brake pedal area. They are a real pain to get to as well.

It take a 5/16 wrench to loosen and remove, there are two (2) groups of wires pluged into it , one red and the other purple, anyway there is a rod that connects that switch to the key and it just slides into it from the bottom.

I hope that you have small hands, cause that switch is a real pain to get to.

Good luck, and by the way, when you re-install make sure that the key is in the off position and that the switch is in the off position there is some adjustment on the switch to "fine tune" the starter.
