Remove the plugs and blow them off and blow the cylinders out. When there is no fuel the oil injection keeps pumping the opti oil into the cylinders and can cause a hydrolock but it wont fire. Dry all of that out and you can even spray carb clean in the cylinders and blow them out to dry things up in there. When it starts it will probably smoke pretty bad for a minute but it will even out within a couple of minutes.

150 mercury starts sputtering after its been running for a few minutes but won't die.

Hello,

Check for clogged fuel filter(s) and/or a bend fuel hose.
Check also for a good cooling pf the compressor. The pilot water jet must be a strong water flow!

If you live in a cold climate your gas line may be frozen or you may have water in your gas adding gas line antifreeze may help.

My mercury mystique ran out of gas I put gas in it but wont start

Turn the key on and listen for the fuel pump to prime, you ran out of gas, if it was weak to begin with that may have finished it.

Ran out of gas. after putting gas into my 93 mercury villager it would not start. please HELP

2 Suggestions:
Check the gas reset button located besides the parking brake pedal (red button), press it and try to turn it on.
Check with a mechanic if the gas pump still works (if you ran out of gas you could probably have damaged your gas pumpby overheating it)
