SOURCE: Paper completely wrinkled

I have two HP LaserJet 1300n printers and like all printers after use (or misuse) they will need PM or repair. The problem with the paper wrinkling is easy. If you have worked on printers then you can make the repair for about $8 - $20 and a couple hours. You can find the service manual at HP's website or online. It is typically a roller or the fuser film is torn. Disassemble the printer/fuser in accordance with the service manual or break out pic, clean, replace part and reassemble. For those who do not want to DIY then you can buy the entire fuser assembly on multiple sites anywhere for refurb w/core exchange to new for $70 - $150. The printers are good printers but like all mechanical devices, they will fail...it's just when and how.

SOURCE: wrinkled envelopes Brother mfc 9840cdw

Instead of moving the whole green lever to adjust that grey arrow to the envelope symbol, simply push the gray part that has the arrow on it. This will move the gray piece down to the env. symbol and will not move the green lever so you can close the back door. I used to have severly wrinkled envelopes. Now they print out perfect.

When we print something, the paper comes out and is wrinkled and has some ink on it in places where there is no print. The fuser checks out fine.

Description sounds like the fuser rollers are bad.
To check it out run a 1/2 test.
Put paper in the manual feed tray. Print something. As the paper gets 1/2 way into the printer, open the top cover,(you might have to print a few sheets to catch it just right) take out the toner and look down at the paper. If it is wrinkled, you could have a bad toner cartridge. If it looks good...get the fuser replaced.

Paper wrinkles when printing

You can try these following solutions:

If the paper does not completely eject, press the paper with folded side paper button, then open the printer cover and remove the paper. Also, check the Paper Size setting in your application or printer software.
If the paper is wrinkled when it comes out, it may be damp or too thin. Load a new stack then try to print again. You can also try to check the printer alignment and the printer setting.

Brother MFC-9840CDW wrinkles envelopes. Brother says this is "normal", and that the only way to 'fix' it is to open the back of the printer EVERY TIME YOU PRINT AN ENVELOPE and make some kind of...

Problem Solved!

I have a Brother MFC-8480 DN all in one printer, copier, fax and scanner.

I discovered that envelopes wrinkle because users, like me, didn't know that Brothers built in a no-wrinkle, pass through exit for envelopes, labels and thick paper.

Envelopes were never to be printed by inserting them in the front and letting them wrap around a HOT roller and get cooked and wrinkled. The way it works:

An envelope is inserted in the front and goes straight out the back of the printer through an exit door, completely avoiding the hot roll-through mechanism.

Take a look. On the back of the machine is a large pass through exit door. Just snap it open. You will see one blue lever on each side of the opening. Snap them both straight down to the . . .ta da. . ."envelope icons".

Put three envelopes in the front and they will print straight out the back, perfect and wrinkle free. After printing your envelopes, snap the blue levers back up and shut the door. Takes about five seconds to open the door and snap down the blue levers down/up.

Happy envelope printing.

CLJ8550n poor print quality and wrinkled paper

this is usually not caused by the paper tray. this problem is usually caused by the fuser assembly. check your paper path. dead cycle the printer, shut the printer down before the paper enters the fusing area, check for wrinkles. remove all paper, print again, check the output, wrinkles, replace the fuser.

Paper jams and wrinkles every time

If you slide open the area in the back of the printer where you remove the paper jam, you can see two plastic tabs (one on the left and one on the right). They should both be free for the paper to pass. Look around to see if there's any other obstruction.

See if the paper will print without the wrinkle with the back piece open. If it does, there's an obstruction in the paper path such as a paper clip or money. Has happened.

If there is no wrinkle coming from the back when it's open, there there problem is the paper moving through that last piece. Look for an obstruction (First Paragraph of this).
