There are dozens of variables that can cause a problem like that. Answering a few questions may help find a solution for you. "it started when I tried to download a game......" Did the download successfully complete before the problems showed up? If so did they show up after installation? Try to un-install the game to see if the problem still occurs? "I have vertical lines on my computer......" (when at the desk top) Are the lines overlaying your desk top image, or do you see multiple desk top images simultaneously displayed next to each other and overlapping? Does this happen just during an attempt to play the game or is it happening all the time no matter what you are doing? If this problem happens all the time, and you can't make out what you are seeing, try to boot your PC in safe mode to see if the problem is still present. If it is not an issue in safe mode you will need to be booted up in safe mode to make the changes to fix it. "......a game that i had all the requirements to." IMPORTANT!: CHECK, DOUBLE CHECK, TRIPLE CHECK!!! You need to pay extra attention here. Make SURE that you are downloading a game version for YOUR machine. The operating system, the processor speed, the memory amount (measured in MB) and speed (measured in Mhz), the video card specs, and hard drive space required, any one of these things are off and you got problems. These are easily over looked in detail and can cause issues with a game (and sometimes the operating system) functioning properly or not. Also going by the minimum requirements will often produce less than minimum results depending on the software and the hardware in use. (depending on your exact symptoms) it sounds like a video driver issue or a screen resolution setting that conflicts with your hardware. What PC do you have? (include manufacturer name, model) What video card do you have (is the gpu up to the task) What game did you download and install? (include version) Where did you download it from? (was it reputable?) Answers to these questions may help find a solution for you. I hope that this response was helpful. Please re post with more information if you need a more definitive answer. Thanx and Good Luck!

What game did you download and also check your monitor and connections to it they might be loose of have a small short....

what is your operating system? for example, XP or Vista If you have either one of those the easiest way to fix that problem is to do a system restore located under the start menu button/ programs/ accessories/ system tools and select a previous date on the calender or previous save point. "note you may loose a program that was recently installed or file data so back that up before doing so just to be on the safe side" all else fails a reformat should fix that..... good luck!

Unplug the monitor video cable from the computer. Power on the monitor and see if you get the same results. If so then your monitor is defective.

Vertical strip of flashing horizontal lines on Acer Aspire 7551G screen

More than likely it's the lcd screen and will have to be replaced. I could be the video card, but most likely the lcd screen especially when you can put pressure on the screen and cause changes. To isolate the problem try connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the laptop. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok, then the problem is with your lcd screen and the video card is ok. If the Borrowed monitor displays the same as your lcd screen then the problem is with your video card inside the computer.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves your video card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

Once you narrow it down to the lcd screen as being the problem you might try taking the lcd screen apart to reseat the lcd cable on the back at the top of the lcd. Just unplug it and plug it back into the connector. You can also try doing the same where the lcd cable plugs into the motherboard. Just pull it out and put it back.

Try using the degauss mode in the monitor software....if that fails then it will require repair.

HI: I have vertical lines on the lcd on my vaio FS980 how i fix it thanks

It is required to check whether it is a Hardware issue or issue related with any Software. For this, login to BIOS by continuously tapping the F2 key on the startup, if you can view vertical lines in the BIOS, it will be a Hardware issue related to the LCD monitor, and it is required to service the Computer in any service center. If the vertical lines disappear in the BIOS mode, the issue is with any of the Softwares or drivers installed in the Computer.
Resolution steps:
1. Check whether the installed video driver is compatible with the Computer. you can download Original shipped Video driver here.
2. You can also try updating the BIOS version by downloading and installing the BIOS updater.
Please try the steps in the same order as it is provided. All the best.

Vertical lines on lcd how can i fix it works perfect with ext monitor and i did bios update and it help some?

Restart the Computer and access the BIOS and check if the vertical lines are visible. If the vertical lines are visible in the BIOS then the issue is with the LCD screen itself and may require service. This is confirmed when an external monitor works fine. If the issue is related to the video card of the Computer then the lines should also appear on the external monitor which is not the case.

Vertical lines on screen , is there a processor driver download to fix this problem

Vertical lines on a screen is not a processor problem, vertical lines is going to be a problem with the monitor or the video card. Try a different known working monitor on your computer and if the lines go away then you know that the original monitor is bad.

If the lines don't go away then try replacing the video card. If you have integrated video then the motherboard would need to be replaced. A processor driver download is not going to fix a vertical line problem.
