You may be low on refrigerant. You could have a bad evaporator fan. You may just need to vacuum out a lot of dust.

Is the door seal good? Use a piece of paper aand close the door on it, if you can pull the paper out without too much trouble the seal is not tight.
Is the thermostat capillary or bulb position like it is suppose to be. Check it out through the service bulliten or ask. Is the control itself set wrong or is it the wrong control? Is the evaporator fan motor working? Any of these things can cause freezing. You don't say where, product or the freezer.

Hi my Beco bc50f fridge is freezing goods despite being on the minimum setting . I was going to buy and fit a new thermostat but a blog suggests that it could be something else, the fan in the freezer...

There is a vent that controls the cold air flow into the refrigerator section from the freezer.

The thermostat controls the vent but the vent may be broken or stuck open.

Probable thermostat, but the vent is likely, too. You will need to open it up and inspect the parts.

Change a thermostat on my fridge

Hello, I think the freezing problem could be a bimetallic, this device is develop to initiate the defrost cycle into the refrigerator, if it doesn´t work properly, ice will be everywhere. The thermostat just controls the inside refrigerator temperature. I hope you will solve this problem checking this particular element.

Why is Hotpoint RLA64T Fridge freezing up after new thermostat fitted?

Make sure that the temp probe from the thermostat is located exactly where the old one was. If it had a plastic sleeve on the old one, the new one will need that sleeve. You shouldn't need to calibrate the control if it is the one specified for this model. If it was a generic replacement then possibly it could need some adjustment.

Hotpoint RLA64T fridge freezing up after new thermostat fitted

WHEN U TALK ABOUT THE THERMOSTAT U MEAN THE COLD CONTROL THERMOSTAT OR DEFROST TIMER THERMOSTAT? WHEN UR PROBLEM SOUNDS MORE LIKE THE DEFROST TERMINATOR OR BAD HEATING ELEMENT, LOCATED ON THE FREEZER EVAPORATOR COILS? IF ITS STAYING ON ALL THE TIME U HAVE A DEFROST ISSUE? OR BAD SEALS ON DOOR AND DIRTY COMPRESSOR

Maytag side by side. Coils froze solid, no cooling in fridge or freezer. Replaced heat coil and thermostat assly., as well as adaptive defrost control (circuit brd.). Still don't seem to be able to...

Hi Rob,

The problem in your case is most probably with the defrost thermostat.

It can be found on the evaporator i.e. freezing coils , it's round disc like with two wires.

If you get this replaced with a new proper working unit ,

Also make sure you replace the defrost timer as well if the problem persists.
Hope this helps ..:)
