Epoxy for aluminum can be used with some success on a puncture in a low pressure system. The problem is not so much patching it as being able to evacuate the moisture and air out before charging. Do you have a vacuum pump? Do you have refrigeration guages and hoses? Is it a new
refrigerator 134a or old r-12? Can you weigh the charge in?

Is it possible to repair a small puncture in the freon line inside a small fridge

The hole can most likely be fixed with epoxy and a filter drier added to the refrigerator by an experienced refrigerator technician but the problem involved will be the cost to have the repair done. It would be less expensive to replace the refrigerator, Thanks Sea Breeze

Punctured inside bottom of chest freezer, now it wont work. how can it be fixed?

Hi,

Sorry, but you punctures a refrigerant line and the system lost the freon...

To fix this the bottom would need to be cut out of the freezer and then the lines fixed and the system recharged...

Considering the cost of a new freezer... you will be better off to replace the freezer rather then doing that much work to it..

Chipping away ice in magic chef freezer section i punctured freon line in freezer panel can refridge still get cold

No, the fridge will not get cold any more. The coolant goes to the coils in the freezer. The fridge takes a small amount of cold air from the freezer to lower its temperature.

I am sorry to say that unless you can find a way to repair the puncture and refill the system with freon, you are going to have to buy another refrigerator.

Need freon recharge. punctures freezer coil in

You punctured the aluminum evaporator . In the many years I've been in refrigeration , I have yet to find any way to patch a hole in the evaporator . I've used epoxy , solder , and all different advertised ways to try to patch aluminum . Nothing worked ( for long anyway ) . My suggestion would be to buy another refrig . You will be wasting time and money trying to " fix " this problem . To repair it yourself , you have to have a license to buy R12 , maybe you can buy R134A without a license , you have to look on the " modell , serial number tak to see which it uses and how much to use . Also , the system has to evacuated ( all air removed from the lines ) . Do you have a vacuum pump ? You have to buy a solder on connector ( or saddle valve which WILL leak eventually unless you get a solder on valve ) which will connect to the larger tubing on the compressor or use the access line already on the compressor but is pinched off . Do you have guages for the refrigerant type you need to use ? Once you have these things , reply back and myself or someone else will help you procede .

Freezer puncture.  I punctured the liner to the freezer, creating a slight hole that emitted a vapor (presumably freon).  Must I repair it?  How do I repair it?

The freezer coil where you punctured is made of aluminum and there's not cheap way to fix it , but if the refrigerator is in good conditions you can replace the coil or get somebody to do it ( it is an expensive job).

Punctured freon line in freezer

Please don't rate me down for this answer, but I'll be honest with you. No, you can not fix it yourself. The entire evaporator would have to be replaced by a service tech who has a refrigerant certification and the proper tools to do it. It would be prohibitively expensive. It's time to buy a replacement.

Chiping ice out of freezer section with chisle and entered a "cavity" under freezer shelf...seemed like freon gas came out of it. Is the refriderator toast? It is a Magic Chef mini-freezer.

Sound like you punctured one of the molded channels in the freezer shelf that carries the refrigerant.  Probably can't be fixed.  Possibly could be replaced.  Consult a service technician if the fridge is new enough to keep.  If it does not have an auto-defrost or frost-free function it is probably too old to be worth repairing.

Punctured freezer

You should contact a local welding shop to fix the leak. The tubing is made from aluminum and can be hard to solder for someone who doesn't do it all the time. After that you need an appliance repairman to pit more freon in it. I guess the question is...how old is your freezer? More than 6 years old? Anything older than that, you may just want to get a new one.
