Won't print black

My printer would not print black well even though I had just put a new ink in.I did the printer maintenence clean and first it printed saying that the black nozzle needed cleaning, I did that and re-printed the nozzle check and black printed fine, saying the printer would now work perfectly, however it does not print black still when i go to print out documents., at first it printed a faded black and now nothing at all. I cannot see anything wrong.

I have a PIXMA iP3000 printer. The black ink cartridge ran out and I replaced it with another genuine CANON cartridge. Ever since I have been unable to get the black to print. I have checked the cartridge installation and cleaned and deep cleaned the black printhead numerous times without success. I have even bought and installed another CANON black ink cartridge also without success.

I am having the same problem. I just put a brand new black cartridge and ran it several times. It does not print anything on the paper. What should I do?

Canon Pixma iP3000 will not print black. I have tried cleaning the heads and around the black ink cartridge, plus buy a new cartridge. All the other colors work fine

What HappyChap123 wrote about changing to Photo Paper Pro was the solution!! I have several of the same printers with this problem. We were about ready to pull out hairs (or buy a new printer!!)

I found a solution to the Black printing problem :)
Under Printing Preferences: Set your Media Type to Photo Paper Pro.
We used edible ink cartridges and printed onto icing sugar paper. Same old... Just one day it refused to print black. In order to continue our small business, I degraded the color until I printed gray and not black.

Tonight, I browsed for the problem and came across this :)

Hope it helps you too

Contrary to what Blan 5460 says the PIXMA iP3000 only has one black cartridge. This is used for printing black text. The black used when printing colour is obtained by mixing the three colours. If one colour isn't flowing properly; i.e. the colour head needs cleaning, the black in colour printing has a colour cast. In my case usually dark green..

I solved my non printing of black text problem by removing the print head, cleaning it very carefully with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton bud and replacing the head. Since then it has not missed a beat.

I think i may have the answer - told it is a air block - take the printer head out of the machine, put the cartridges in it, put a white cloth under it, get the vacuum cleaner and **** the ink until it shows on the white rag it is coming throught.

Yes, I have the same problem (would not print black!). My brother bought the same one - and the same problem. Must be something about this model! life is short on this printer! I got tired of trying to do head cleaning - do all kind of tricks but nothiing help. Bought another Canon MX700 (all-in-one) and now I have trouble with orange color - only 3 weeks old. This is my last time buying Canon stuffs.

This printer uses 2 black ink tanks 1x bci 6bk and 1x bci3ebk
bci3e used for printing text with the printer and bci 6 used when printing pics or grayscale prints. i would say the bci3e print head is faulty on the printer you will need to replace the print head in the print.

sound like you might have a driver issue or a logic baord problem. 1. i would uninstall the driver download the latest driver from http://www.canon.com.au/products/printer... install the new driver. also find a known working usb cable and plug it onto the printer into another usb port on the computer. some usb cables do not work well with the canon printers. if this don't work then i would say it going to be the logic board on the printer.

I have the same problem. Everything on the printer is working just fine. It'll do a test page just fine, so everything's working right. The %$^ thing just won't print. It makes noise like it's printing when you give it a print job, but it spits out blank pages.

Hp photosmart 8050 won`t print black even though it says it full

Hi there! If you haven`t used the printer in 2-3 months the black ink cartridge has gona dry.Wich means the printer is seeing full ink but the ink isn`t actually coming out from the ink head.Take a peace of clean cloth or cotton and clear the bottom part of the ink head(be verry carfully while cleaning it cuz you may dmg the head.If that doesn`t help just go and buy a new ink cartridge and it will solve your problem.

New black cartridge installed in MP780 Prints

This simply means that black ink is installed but not CHARGED properly. What you see in a color printing has actually no black color in it but a combination of the hues of blue and yellow and magenta; though it appears black or dark.

Now, use your printer's maintenance utility to do Head Cleaning. To do this, click Start => Settings => open your Printer and Faxes, then right click on your printer's name. Then click on Printing Preferences. Now in the window that opens, click the Maintenance tab and do Head Cleaning. (In some printers, maintenance is called Toolbox)

MFC-420CN refuses to recognize or use black ink

The print head is clogged.Try powerful cleaning:
Press menu, then start black copy, then four times arrow-up quickly after another.Machine will be in maintenance mode
(all lights will flash).
Press 7-6-4 and OK (or start-black-copy).
When finished press 7-6-3 then start black copy,
printer will do a power purge.
Leave maintenance mode by pressing 9-9.
If this not help better think about new printer, because cost of repairing this one is profitable.

Ink Leaks, Printer will not print black, all text prints in poor quality and CYAN colour only.

it sounds as though you haven't use this in a while and the ink has dried in the head/jets. try cleaning the nozles and get new ink cartridges.
start>printer & faxes>properties>print preferences>maintenance tab (if you have one) and look for head cleaning.
