Question about Canon PowerShot A75 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Camera was not used for at least one year. With FRESH batteries, it shows an extemely blurred purple image on the LCD screen, before and after pressing the shutter. Any ideas?

Not sure this qualifies as a solution; LCD screens are sensitive to high heat, so if the camera was, let's suppose, left in a hot car, the LCD might literally be cooked. This may not effect the ability to take photos, as that is a different, but linked, process. The "solution" would then be to take the camera to be repaired with a new LCD screen.
On the other hand, if the batteries depleted enough to burst, then other electronics may have gone, as well.

Hi
I have got an S5000 that I can still view previously taken pictures from the card, but when trying to take pictures the screen and view finder shows a peculiar distorted purple and green picture and any picture taken is just a green blur.
I contacted Fuji and they say they can repair it for £90 (about $120)

Lcd screen blurred and the viewer has a purple color to it

it is because of bad ccd imager chip in your Canon A75 camera that needs to be replaced.
Canon will replace it free of cost, click Canon CCD Imager Advisory for details.
Thanks.

Dark and blurry

It will clear instantly with a fresh battery.

The viewfinder screen has an LCD overlay and even when the camera is switched off the screen uses a small amount of power. When the batteries are flat the screen is unpowered, the crystals in the LCD align randomly to both darken and blur the viewfinder image.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

Pinkish screen and green blurred picture

Sounds like the image sensor is malfunctioning (common symptoms: distorted images with purple or green cast, completely dark images, flickering lines across the screen.)

I have four S20's great cameras when they are working. Three don't. All have the same problem blurred image then eventually no image. I have posted one today for repairs at a cost of £99.99 fuji include a new 12 months warranty on the entire camera.
Solution..send it to fuji for repair. Or bin it & change manufacturers for your next camera. Personally I love the S20 especially when useing Raw.

Bad luck is that the CCD sensor in your camera has stopped working properly and needs replacing. You are lucky though because Canon repairs this fault on S1 - IS free of charge so phone them and inquire.
