When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

* It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

* It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water.

Also, if the drain hose is stuffed far down the stand pipe, the timer will get stuck. You can order replacement parts from www.repairclinic.com and if replacing a part doesn't help, you can return it within 30 days. Let me know how this turns out.

Do you mean that it just does the wash cycle, or does it then go to the rinse and spin cycle

Hello Tim. This is an annoying issue with the FP washers from the GWL15 and up. You will need to replace the main control, p/n 421232NAP If the unit is under warranty, call Fisher Paykel for service. If not, the control costs $168.00 US and is a fairly simple proceedure to replace.

Does it matter which wires goes where on a diverter valve for a Fisher Paykel GWL15 washer?

I thought they could only plug in one way? if not, it shouldn't matter, just keep an eye on it first cycle. it activates the diverter right near the start of a cycle.

**** buildup in top load washer. what to do

Unscrew the agitator and wipe out all accumulated muck. Screw agitator back on, and put through a rinse cycle with white vinegar and bicarbonate soda. This will flush any residual scum. You may have to repeat procedure every 6 months.
