Question about Plantronics Explorer 220 Bluetooth Headset Wireless Headset

1 Answer

Plantronics Explorer 220 bluetooth won't pair with LG NV3 phone. It's in discovery mode and I'm getting the red/blue flashing on the bluetooth like the manual says, but it just keeps searching and will not pair. Both are brand new from Verizon store and both are fully charged. I've tried starting with bluetooth off before clicking on phone menu to add device and an and neither seems to work. I also looked up directions with bluetooth and phone manual and appear to be following them. Suggestions?

Well I got it working, of course, try turning the phone off on again instead of just the bluetooth, it worked. I should have done that before posting the question.

How to link my blue tooth

Pairing the Plantronics Explorer 220:

For most phones, select Settings/Tools, Connections, Bluetooth, On. See your phone's user guide for more information.

With the 220 headset powered off, turn on the headset by pressing and holding the call control button for approximately 5 seconds until the LED flashes red & blue. The Explorer 220 headset is now in pairing mode. If you don't see the red/blue flash, press and hold the power button to turn your headset off, and then press and hold the power button again and hold for 5-6 seconds until you see the red & blue flash.

From your phone, go to the Bluetooth menu and select "Search" or "Add Device". Your phone should find the headset which will appear as "2xxPlantronics" in your list of devices.

If prompted for the Passkey (PIN code), enter 0000. If your phone asks for a PIN/passkey, enter 0000 (4 zeros). Pairing is successful when the LED on your headset flashes blue. Your headset is now connected and ready to use.

How do i get my plantronic 220 in discovery mode

Hi,here is a detailed solution on how to set your plantronic headset into the discovery mode;
STEP 1 You have to firstly put off the headset,by holding the call control button, which is the button on the face of the bluetooth, until the blue light turns red,as soon as the blue light turns red release the button.
STEP 2 After putting off the headset, wait for like 5 secs to ensure its completely off.when the device is off,you can now press and hold on the call control button for 5secs if its the first initial pairing,if it's not, then you have to hold on the call control button for 8seconds,afterwards the light should flash red then blue in both cases
STEP 3 At this point in time your headset is in discovery mode, and you have 60 seconds to pair it with your phone which should also be in the pairing mode as well.
Your plantronics headset and your phone are matched up and you are good to go.

Thanks and take care

How to turn my plantronic explorer 220 on discover mode

  • TO SET IT ON DISCOVERY MODE YOU HAVE TO START WITH IT OFF. YOU CAN TURN IT OFF BY HOLDING DOWN THE CALL CONTROL BUTTON- THAT'S THE BIG ONE ON THE FACE OF YOUR BLUETOOTH, UNTIL THE BLUE LIGHT TURNS RED. RELEASE THE BUTTON AS SOON AS YOU SEE IT TURN RED. iT SHOULD BE OFF, YOU CAN WAIT A SECOND OR TWO TO SEE IF IT FLASHES BLUE AGAIN, IF IT DOES JUST HOLD DOWN THE CALL BUTTON AGAIN TIL RED THEN QUIT. ok IT'S OFF, SO WITH IT OFF YOU PRESS AND HOLD DOWN THE CALL CONTROL BUTTON 5 SECONDS IF IT IS THE FIRST TIME PAIRING. iF IT IS NOT THE FIRST TIME YOU HAVE TO HOLD IT DOWN FOR EIGHT SECONDS AND IN BOTH CASES THE LIGHTS SHOULD FLASH RED THEN BLUE( OR VISE VERSA.) BACK AND FORTH. aT THAT TIME IT IS IN DISCOVERY MODE AND YOU HAVE LIKE 60 SECONDS TO SET YOUR PHONE ON DISCOVERY AND MATCH THEM UP. i JUST WENT THRU THIS ABOUT 20 MINUTES AGO, i FOUND THAT EXPLINATION ON pLANTRONICS WEBSITE FOR MY MODEL, 220.

Begin with headset turned off. 1. Press and hold down the call control button

for 8 seconds until the headset status indicator begins to flash blue then red. The headset is now in pairing mode for the next 120 seconds.
2. While the headset is flashing, use the phone menu to search for Bluetooth devices and select "220Plantronics."
3. When prompted for a passkey, enter 0000. Headset will flash blue when paired successfully.
