It doesn't and shouldn't matter as all fridges with a mechanical defrost timer will run through a complete refridgeration and defrost cycle according to the manufacturer's factory design.

It doesn't have to correlate to your local time, since all defrost cycles for self-defrosting units operate based on the manufacturer's specs for how often the unit needs to go into a defrost cycle to prevent ice build up in the freezer.

Your fridge will adjust properly, once it gets cold enough and begins the specified operation and pre-determined cooling and defrost cycling.

Your going to have to watch your fridge when it goes in to defrost at that time if it is a bad time then you will move timer clock wize and count the clicks and do 5 click or in till unit starts ... the best time for defrost time is when the unit is being used the least late night or sleeping time..good luck

Where is the defrost timer in a GE side-by-side model # GSS25XGPBBB

There is no defrost timer per say by its self, every thing is built into the Electronic Board on this frig.I suggest before buying a board, you might wont to have someone look at it, just to make sure that is the problem. The part number for the board is PS12069099 and it list for 366.45. It is located in back side of frig bottom right hand corner behind a cover.

Bad defrost timer, most likely. It is not defrosting the evaporator, and therefore, no air can be passed over it. Hope this helps

Frig side not working on Maytag MZD2766GEW

freezer not defrosting. probably adaptive defrost board in fridge.
take panel off freezer (inside, back panel). if all frozen, can defrost with blow dryer. best to remove fridge control panel (inside, top of fidge). access adaptive defrost board, jump test to f1 (i think) next to test. this should initialize defrost mode. buy new board.

My frig isn't cold and I hear a ticking in the back

The defrost timer is about the size of a cell phone, has about five wires going to it in a plug. It has a small dial on it that only goes one way. Mark the dial with whiteout and see if it moves. It moves real slowly, will take about a half hour to see any real movement. It should not tick, that would mean the gears are probably broken. They are all very generic, you may get one out of a fridge that has other problems if your dealer wants too much for a new one.

Freezer to cold refrigerator not cold enough

sounds like your defrost timer is not working properly . Most fridge/freezers the fridge gets cooled from the cool air from the freezer . But when the defrost timer is not working properly the section between the fridge and freezer freezes up and hence doesnt allow the flow of cool air into the fridge. The defrost timer can be easily replaced.

Freezer works but frig is not cooling

I don't know this particular frig, but evidently the defroster doesn't work. Frost buildup has blocked the flow of cold air.

There is a defrost timer, under the frig, accessible from the front. You can turn it with a screw driver. Turn it till you hear a click. If the timer hasn't been turning, that should turn on the defroster, a heating element nested among the freezer coils. Wait half an hour and if it is defrosting, water should be dripping into the drip pan underneath the frig. If so, then replace the defrost timer and you're good to go.

If that doesn't make it defrost, then the problem is probably the defrost thermostat, in with the freezer coils. When the frig defrosts, the defrost heater stays on until the defrost thermostat gets warm. It should be open circuit while warm. But if it is open circuit while cold, it is bad and is the cause of your defrost problem.

If you open up the freezer coils, use a hair dryer to defrost. That is safer than hot water.

Hope you can fix it.

Frig won't cool, freezer works fine

Defrost unit completely. You're frosting up. Then, avoid leaving the door open, leaving liquids and food uncovered. Clean condenser coils. If it happens again, you need refrigerant.
