Switch input to "TV" then switch via menu "source" to "air" or "cable" then do a "channel programing".

SOURCE: Off Air?

The Scientific Atlanta box was a cable box and recieved CATV signals. The Direct TV box is satellite only. You might check if it has a built in ATSC tuner for off air digital signals. Direct TV in most locations offers the major networks in HD format.

SOURCE: DVD input to HDMI 1 have no signal (displayed by

Some Onkyo receivers are known to have HDMI issues (it has faulty capacitors). The first thing to do is to reset the receiver.
To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn it on and, while holding down the [VCR/DVR] button, press the [ON/STANDBY] button (see page 96 of the manual).

If that doesn't work it will have to go in for repair to have the HDMI board replaced.

Logic board on lg BM LDS201 has blinking green light, (long, short-long, short) then repeats

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

Insignia tv no signal

It seems theHDMI input part of the main board has failed. Please try another HDMI input if your tv has one. If not consult some qualified tech or the service center.

All other input works fine e.g. dvd, TV went pink screen.

If other inputs show no problems and you are not using a cable box or satellite receiver, etc. just off air antenna, something on the main board is failing. please double check other inputs again.

I recently purchased an LG RH397D dvd recorder> Ihave now discovered taht it will not receive the new free view channels and I need a HD set top box. How to I connect the set top box to the dvd...

Hi, The set top box will more than likely have two coaxial connectors ( threaded/ribbed pieces of metal ) coming out of the back. also three R.C.A. connectors-these will be smooth and be colored yellow red and white. one of the coax connectors will say " IN FROM ANT> or CABLE IN) the other ( OUT TO T.V. ) hook up your dvd recorders " ANTENNA " input to the set top box's ANTENNA output. If your D.V.D. recorder doesn't have an antenna input then hook up the recorders audio/video input to the set top box's audio/video output. then you should be good to go. If you buy a H.D.T.V. tuner to receive FREE H.D. programming it may be possible to hook up to recorder with H.D.M.I. cables.( those connections resemble slots ) I hope this has been of some assistance, good luck, Prodzilla.

I got an American model of LG. i can not tune it by auto nor manual can you please help

You can get a manual here: http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-video/televisions/LG-lcd-tv-32LG30.jsp . Click on the Support and then on the right hand side look for User's Manuals. Since the TV has a tuner for ATSC, NTSC, and Clear-QAM, the next question is what is your signal source? (analog, digital and unscrambled cable)

If you are using OTA, make sure that the input is set to Antenna. Use antennaweb.org or tvfool.com to check the direction to point your antenna and the appropriate antenna for your distance to the transmitter. antennaweb assumes an external antenna and is very conservative in the list of channels you should be able to receive. tvfool gives the stations available with different antennas. If you have several tvs connected to one source, you may need an amplifier in addition to the splitter. This also can help marginal signals come in since digital is either enough for the tuner to resolve or no signal. (Check splitters and amplifiers if you suddenly can't get a signal that you used to receive. Also check if the antenna has been turned.)

Menu > Channel > Auto Tuning or Manual Tuning. If Lock System is active, you will need the password. Auto Tuning only searches for digital or cable channels. The manual tuning option should provide the signal strength as well for digital stations (as well as letting you search for analog signals or all signals (digital, analog, cable).

Use the input Cable for coax cable connections. Other inputs will not allow you to search for channels since they are meant to be controlled by the set-top box feeding the system.

I hope this helps.

Nothig bu a blue screen shows when turned on

Blue screen of Death?
No, this is not windoze.

can you change channels?
a blue screen usually means that you don't have a signal.
Is it hooked up through dvd/vcr player?

Try a straight connection to cable or antenna.

If it remains, then it requires surgery.

Cnannel scan detects no channels

Kingscott,
Make sure the cable connection from the dish to the tv is
connected to the antenna/cable input and not the digital
input. Turn on the satellite receiver then auto program the
set with the receiver still on. If this fails to lock in channel
3 your suspicion regarding a faulty tuner could be correct.
A good way to check the tuner operation would be to hook
up another product such as a VCR with the rear switch set
for channel 3 and see if you can receive a picture from this
device. If it works the tuner is OK.
You can bypass the tuner by connecting an S-Video cable
and (or) a set of A/V (yellow, red & white) cables from the
output of the satellite receiver to the video 1 input on the tv.
You'll then have to switch the tv source mode to video 1.
Hope this of some help,
Caseybee

FUZZY (SNOWY) PICTURE

When you say you have tried all the inputs you are not clear if you mean tuner, vcr, dvd, aux, etc. If you are talking about only the cable input it sounds like you have a bad tuner. To obtain picture in picture there are 2 tuners in your set. This would explain why the small picture is ok while the main picture is bad. You should be able to swap the signals (see your ops manual). Try this. If the snow moves the one tuner is bad. If you have put other signals in (besides cable)such as dvd then the problem is in the matrix circuitry where the two signals merge. Either problem should be easy for a good tech to solve and not cost a whole lot.
