Question about GE Refrigerators

1 Answer

My freezer and refrigerator started not cooling properly about 3 days ago. My freezer is 20* and my fridge is 53*. The fan in the back of the freezer that used to turn on if the freezer door was opened does not turn on anymore. I pulled it out and cleaned everything really good last night. It didn't seem to help.

Sounds like you may have already located your problem - the fan at the back of the freezer compartment.

Figure out why it no longer is turning. Did the motor fail? Is an electrical connection disconnected? Is a ground wire connection disconnected?

If no connectors are disconnected, replacing the fan motor is probably the first step I would take.

Of course, the problem could be more complicated. The computer that processes the various temp sensor data and controls the defrost, etc, may have a problem. Or it may be a problem with the sensors. But try replacing the fan motor first.

Hi, my Hotpoint ff200e fridge freezer is cooling but not freezing, compressor wires are warm and compressor itself is quite warm, top fridge is not cooling enough, then the lights on control panel start...

Hi.. feel the dividing rdge between fridge and freezer.. is it warm?.. chances are that the little fan at the back of the fridge freezer that helps cool the compressor, has snagged own it's own wire... it's a weak fan, like you get in a computer, but it does a lot of work.. without it, the coolent does not do it's job, which results in your device not cooling things properly

Model 106.53632300 couple of days ago smelled something (burned electrical type smell). Now both fridge and freezer not cooling. Cooling fan in back on bottom is running.

you may have a fried start or run cap and hopefully not a spendy board like everything runs on these days....bad caps(capacitors) will cause compressor not to start and run but arent needed for fans to kick on ....

Candy fridge freezer

it should come back after about 20 mins only and should cool back after about 10 mins.

i'm afraid the buzzing sound could be coming from your compressor which can not start. the over current relay is tripping off after 20 seconds to prevent the compressor from burning up.
i suggest to unplug the ref, let it cool for 1 day, re plug it after a day and observe the compressor if would run.

if the buzzing sound is still there and the unit is no longer cooling, then the compressor is not running.
check the relay of the compressor. it could just be the relay.

Refrigerator compartment not cooling

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.
